Chiron Sports Group are currently the party that are in exclusive talks to take control of League One club Reading, according to Bloomberg.

The Swiss-based group are already involved with sport, having links to Italian outfit Venezia, the E1 Series and the Enhanced Games.

This involvement in sports is a promising sign for the Royals' supporters, who will be keen to see suitable custodians replace Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu Li.

At this point, with many fans previously thinking that the Berkshire outfit could have fallen into liquidation, most supporters would take anyone as a replacement for the Dai siblings.

But after seeing Anton Zingarevich abandon the club and the Dai siblings contribute heavily to their downfall, having good owners to succeed the latter could be crucial in keeping the club alive.

The Berkshire outfit are already badly damaged because of the current ownership - and there will be plenty for new owners to do when they get EFL approval.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that a group, now reported to be Chiron, took a big step forward in their quest to take control of the Royals.

However, there's still work to be done, with key figures within the group needing to undergo an Owners and Directors Test (OaDT) to ensure they are suitable to take charge of Ruben Selles' side.

The club believe it could take up to two months for a deal to be finalised, which is a long wait for fans who want this saga to be over as quickly as possible.

However, the one big positive for fans is the fact this potential sale will include the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park.

The key figures behind Chiron Sports Group

The firm is managed by Leo Rifkind, a man who is known by many Charlton Athletic supporters after he was appointed as a non-executive director at The Valley back in 2021.

However, he doesn't seem to be the "money man" in this situation, with Robin Lauber and German investor Christian Angermayer two of the company's key investors.

Chiron Sports Group have offices in Basel, Switzerland and London, England - and could be set to expand their portfolio in the latter country with the acquisition of the Royals.

The takeover isn't done yet, but for now, the Royals need to focus on what's happening on the pitch.

Sitting six points above the drop zone at this stage, they still have work to do in their quest to avoid back-to-back relegations.

It seems as though further points deductions will be avoided for the remainder of the campaign, which is a major boost.

But more points are still needed, especially with the likes of Port Vale and Cheltenham Town having games in hand.

The Royals have the quality of players needed to get themselves over the line, but the game isn't played on paper.
