I feel bad for her, she always gets pushed to the side in the gigs she gets. Star Wars really wasted her. I hope she is in a marvel movie soon or something big.
I thought she was one of the better parts of Game of Thrones as Brienne, even when the show went to shit. The only good episode of the final season was largely revolved around her.
Yeah, up until they fucked Jaime's arc by having him hit it and quit it with her. Everything up to that point was heartfelt and gratifying.
I honestly felt as though D&D were actively fucking with people at that point.
Numerous interviews where they talk about changing things "because someone guessed the arc" or to avoid what seemed natural...
Literally just trying to say "we're original because we did something you didn't want."
You want a redemptive heroes journey? Fuck you.
You want growth to lead to change, to lead to a healthy relationship built on respect and trust? Fuck you.
You think that you know what we've been building toward for multiple seasons? Fuck you, we changed it. We win. Right??

Honestly, someone guessing the arc just means that you did foreshadowing and characterization right. Instead we get this collection of contrived OOC moments and general stupidity.
D&D were good at cinematography but sucked at writing. The show went downhill as soon as they ran out of books.
Sansa...could never faceswap?
Lucifer in sandman coming up
Lucifer is important in Sandman, but he is not exactly a recurring character. I hope they change that for Gwendoline.
And, after the... Show... There's not a ton of room for developing the Character outside Sandman recursiveness
They can make a whole TV show about them! Name it Lucifer, he gets tired of hell, moves to LA, opens a bar and helps the police solve crimes! 5 seasons at least!
I absolutely agree. Imho the entire sequel trilogy was a directionless mess, but wasting such potential in Phasma was just sad.
It does feel like she's getting pigeonhold into the Big Berta role in anything she acts in. She's got fantastic acting chops and shouldn't be chosen just to play physically imposing women.
I would have to change mine first.
I like can she swing a sword. Or Kathrine Wynnick from Vikings
I could see her as Charity.
Lagertha?
Katherine... Have such a half chub for her
3/4 chub for me. Awesome as Lagertha and in Wu Assassins. She'd be one of my casting picks for Murphy even if she's like half a foot too tall
Omg yes. And that dress is incredible.
It's Iris Van Herpen I think
Full agreement!
As an aside I like genuinely artistic fashion sometimes and this dress has a lot of skill; also if they changed the color scheme it would be great for Bianca's dress in Grave Peril that was literally made out of flames.
I've come to the conclusion that the Dresden Files is basically unfilmable as a TV series, even though we can all imagine how cool it would look in live-action if it was all flawlessly executed. But I would still cast her as Gard even in an animated adaptation and totally support modeling an animated version of Gard after her likeness.
I take it you are predicting that the Dresden series that is in the works is gonna suck then?
We don't even know if it's going to be live-action or not. I just think it would be a lot easier to do justice in an animated medium. Not saying I wouldn't like to see it done in live-action with a level of quality that we've all dreamed about, but ever since Game of Thrones imploded over its last couple seasons, I've been wary about getting invested in new live-action sci-fi/fantasy series that will take more than a few seasons to complete. My optimism will be a lot less cautious if the nebulously-forthcoming second attempt at adapting the series for TV is revealed to be in an animated medium of suitably high quality.
Have they announced who Dresden is?
I’m not even sure we know for sure there’s going to be one, I think that may be what Jim is discussing with somebody now. Last I heard it was maybe optioned? Whatever that even means.
I could live with that.
Kathrine Winnick for me
I agree with the others. Charity would be my choice for her

Annìe for Freydis!!!!

Maybe a smidgen lol
I like that third option the most for Gard.
Honestly, I could see her do Mab as well.
I was just thinking that.... make that gown sapphire and green and purple and that's Mab. Though Tilda Swinton could be a good candidate for Mab too.
Give it to Kate Blanchett for an eerie elven Threepeat!
Wait, hear me out. Tilda Swinton as Mab; Kate Blanchett as Titania. Or the other way. I would love to see them intensely staring and chewing scenery together while seething with otherworldly beauty and rage.
Oh...oh baby! I could get behind that idea!
I'm blanking on this, and a glance down her IMDb page didn't help. Galadriel, sure, but what's the other one?
Swinton played the Ancient One in Doctor Strange. Or the angel Gabriel in the Keanu Reeves Constantine.
Why, the Soviet commander from the movie which never happened, of course! :)
Honestly, I was thinking of Hela, who is not technically an elf but certainly fills the "dark and terrible queen" archetype.
Swinton did a decent job as the White Witch in "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". Not sure she'd necessarily want to take another role that looks very similar on the surface... but agree that Christie works well as Mab, Charity, or Gard. Or, for that matter, Titania! Since Mab and Titania are supposed to be eerily similar looking.
I like Tilda Swinton, and I can see why you would go there, but she just isn't Mab material.
Have you seen her in Snowpiercer(movie)? Her ability to care about rules is spooky. I think that character os what makes me like her for the role. I could also see her as mother summer or even winter, too. She just has a very Sidhe air about her.
I agree, she's would be good as one of the mothers or another of the Sidhe, she already has that vibe, especially in The Chronicles of Narnia, but not as Mab..Mab will require something different, something a little more alluring, sexier and more dangerous. I'm not sure who just yet though.
Why? She'd be perfect.
When I read the books I always imagine her as Betty Gilpin.
Hmmm... Yeah, I can see it.
Who do you envision as Hendricks to pair up with her?
Vincent D'Onofrio? Though we might need a time machine to get him from 10-20 years ago.
Well Hendriks on screen is virtually a silent part, could be tempting to grab a strongman, wrestler or other size/strength athlete for the look/presence.
The mountain!
Nah I'd go for someone like Tom Stoltman.
Kristofer Hivju.
Steve Bautista.
Did you mean Dave Bautista? In any case, I think Brock Lesnar is the perfect choice for Hendricks.
Yeah definitely meant Dave. No clue where Steve came from
Brock Lesnar is Hendricks, change my mind.
Yeeeaah…He’d definitely be uncomfortable in a suit…
Honestly this is who I visualize more or less anyways lol
Accept no substitutes.
No Katee Sackoff? (https://static1.colliderimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/katee-sackhoff1.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=750&dpr=1.5) not tall enough?
How about Hannah Waddingham? (http://res.cloudinary.com/ybmedia/image/upload/c_crop,h_1125,w_2000,x_0,y_81/c_fill,f_auto,h_495,q_auto,w_880/v1/m/2/f/2fd6eba3b47055d04615cdec771196bf68bbb31e/hannah-waddingham-cleverly-replies-seth-rogen.jpg)
I would be happy with either of them but I like Gwendoline better for Gard.
Sackoff could do Murphy if they find a tall enough person for Dresden
Murphy is supposed to be cheerleader/pint sized. They'd definitely have to shoot around Sackhoff's actual height.
Catch Leyla Hirsch on a bad day. She's a 4'11 pro-wrestler with an amateur/Olympic background who regularly yeets people twice her size and flows from submission maneuver to submission maneuver like water. Most of her character work has been pint-sized rageball but lately she's also been cultivating a more wholesome/fun-loving persona that would absolutely fit as someone's favorite aunt. Give her some hair dye and a few traditional acting lessons--voila. Karrin Murphy.
Leyla is legit (and awesome!), but I don't think I'd ever describe her as "cute as a button". Speaking of wrasslers though, just based on looks, Penelope Ford makes me think of Mab.
Damn. Yes.
Fucking YES!!!
I'd also say Cate Blanchett but she'd be too expensive.
But I'm gonna also toss out there: Jes McCallan.
Cate Blanchett could be a fantastic Mab however...
Why should I? She would be perfect.
hannah waddingham
Ragga Ragnars from vikings might make a good
choice...

I am in!
Or consider, and stay with me on this...
Andy Dick.
Silje Torp Færavaag would be another good option.
She'd work, but she looks... "harder" than I envision Gard. I like Katee Sackhoff:
https://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/marvelinsanity/images/c/ca/EWKatee2.jpeg/revision/latest?cb=20130901132548&path-prefix=it
And we all know Katee Sackhoff can play thoroughly bad-ass characters extremely well.
I expect Gard to be buffer.
She'd need to get visibly buff, like with unquestionably defined visible traps and lats etc but yes, absolutely.
