About Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA)

The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, also known as RADA, is a dramatic arts institution that has offered vocational training for actors, stage managers, designers, and technical stagecraft specialists for over a century.

It was established in 1904 by renowned actor-manager, Sir Herbert BeerbohmTree. It is located in the Bloomsbury area of London. While RADA does not have its own student accommodation, they advise students to live in private houses with other students, in local halls of residence, or as lodgers.

The university is located close to many universities and museums, including UCL, SOAS, the British Museum, and Birkbeck University.

There are a range of courses on offer to students, including undergraduate degrees in technical theatre and stage management, and acting, as well as postgraduate degrees in theatre costume and theatre lab. Short courses allow people to get a taste of acting training, build experience, or develop a new skill, and include a foundation course in acting.

Alumni include the late Alan Rickman, Tom Hiddleston, Ralph Fiennes, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Roger Moore, and Taron Egerton among many others.

The commercial subsidiary, RADA Business, was created to improve communication skills in the workplace through training programmes and coaching. Since 2001, it has worked with law firms, retailers, media companies, universities and governments.
