On May 3rd 2024 Hollywood Records released the soundtrack album for the Hulu-series 'We Were The Lucky Ones'. The album is only available on online streaming services, there is no sign of a physical (CD) release (yet). The main theme of the series was earlier released as a single. The music of 'We Were The Lucky Ones' is a collaborative effort of composers Rachel Portman and Jon Ehrlich.
Niklas Liepe announced an exclusive concert performance with Rachel Portman on his website. The concert will be performed on October 15th 2024 somewhere in London (UK) from 18:00 to 19:00 hrs. The exact location is yet to be announced, more details will follow when published.
To promote the official album release of 'Tipping Points', Rachel Portman's violin concerto calling for the preservation of nature's beauty, Niklas Liepe released a short film on his Youtube channel which includes interviews with both artists, as well as behind-the-scene footage and in-depth explanations of the different parts of the concerto.
German classical violinist Niklas Liepe is scheduled to release a new album which includes Rachel Portman's 'Tipping Points', a concerto for violin, orchestra, and voice. The album, that is planned for release in Europe on the 5th of April 2024 on the Sony Classical label also features a recording of Wolf Kerschek's new arrangement of Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons' titled 'The New Four Seasons'. In advance of the album the track 'Water' from 'Tipping Points' has now been released as a single on streaming media.
The 'Tipping Points' concerto consists of six movements, and each movement is interwoven with a new poem by poet Nick Drake. The themes of the 25-minute work, both in the music and the poems are about the powers of nature and the confronting emotions triggered by collapsing ecosystems. They bring together the ancient and the modern. As one of the poems says: "The tipping point of the heart is when it breaks".
Update: a second single 'Earth' has now been released by Sony Classical.
