Miss Rachael Metcafe, superintendent of nurses at the CMG Hospital  is to give an address on “Community and Public Health,” at the social meeting of the Women’s Literary Union this afternoon at 2.30 at the Y. W. C. A. Mrs. Isaac Goodkowsky is to speak on “Smiles,” from a psychological standpoint. The Elite trlo made up of E.L.H.S..students, Miss Olive Flanders, plano; Miss Ena Bolduc, flute; and Miss Elaine Stephens, violin, will furnish the music

50 Years Ago: 1973

Dr. Alec Tanous, internationally known lecturer on ESP and theology, will be at the Maxwell Gill Hall in Sabattus, March 29, at 7:30 pm.

A native of Van Buren, and a  graduate of Boston College with degrees in history and government, Dr. Tanous holds a  Master’s degree in philosophy from Boston College, a Masters in sacred sciences from Fordham University, and a Doctor of Divinity degree from the College of Divinity of Indiana.

Dr. Tanous, a musician and showman, paints, composes, and arranges music, and has written “Humanity of Christ.” He is the recipient of the Musical Religious Award for his Mass in Jazz, and also a winner of the  Christian Unity Medal for his achievement as a lay theologian.

25 Years Ago: 1998

David Cook, Maine Archaeological Society, will talk on “New Finds and Concepts in Maine Archaeology ” when the Androscoggin Historical Society meets at 7:30 pm. Tuesday on the third floor of the County Building. The meeting is free, open to the public and wheelchair accessible.
