About the Bible Illustrations[edit]

The free Bible illustrations listed below are by Sweet Publishing and are made available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license. This means you are free to redistribute, adapt, and use these illustrations in your own work, provided that you

  1. Attribute the illustrations to Sweet Publishing with a link, where possible, to http://sweetpublishing.com, and
  2. Release any derivative works (what you create with them) under the same license.

The illustrations are organized by book(s) of the Bible.

History[edit]

On 1984, the book Read'n Grow Picture Bible Illustrations was printed by Sweet Publishing

On 2008, The Read‘n Grow Picture Bible illustrations by Jim Padgett, plus illustrations for 53 other stories, are available (February '08) through a non-exclusive license agreement between VMS and Gospel Light. These high-quality illustrations (over 2200) are on two DVDs: one contains the colored version and the other the grayscale version. You can obtain both DVDs for $10, plus shipping.

On ... DSMedia approached Sweet Publishing and Sweet Publishing agreed to release the images under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license for the images

On February 2012, User:Bennylin contacted Tim Jore of DSMedia about the possibility of mass upload of about 3 thousand images to Wikimedia Commons.

On March 2012, the images is uploaded, categorized, and made into galleries in Commons by User:Bennylin with the help of automated bots.

How you can help[edit]

  • Some images are duplicates, mainly on the Gospels. They need to be dealt with somehow
  • The galleries need description
    • Gospel galleries' description have been added by Tahc
  • Use them in Wikipedia and other projects
