- Patricia COakville, Canada15 contributionsSuch a beautiful city to visit. friendly people and lots to see in walking distance. Perfect place to spend a couple of daysWritten March 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- wireless_in_CAUnited States5,037 contributionsWe first parked at the top of the falls and headed towards the suspension bridge. We followed the path behind the visitor center since the main path along the cliff was closed just before the falls. A helpful sign was posted in front of the visitor center warning of the closure.
The fall that April morning was roaring and quite impressive. From the top you could see the speed of the water flow and the roar as it went over. Next to the zip line was a lookout that was not very busy but was the best location for a frontal view. At the bottom of the falls we could not get too close as the viewing area was closed. However, from the path we could still feel the force and feel the resulting spray as the falls hit the bottom. Others continued up the stairs towards the top of the falls.
The park waived the parking fee (maybe for winter) and we only had to show our ticket’s QR code to get into each parking lot.Written April 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can take the funicular from here (right near the statue, located in the glass house) to reach the Lower town, or you can wall all the way to the Citadel (the entrance is on the opposite site though, if you want to visit it). Lots of information about the origins of the terrace and several musicians to entertain you.
A very romantic place, if you like history and it reminds me of so many historic European cities.
To one side, there are several hotels, some older than others, with probably bird eye view over this whole location.Written October 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - TERRAvelistaLondon, UK17,562 contributionsTo reach the lower town you either take the funicular from the Dufferin terrace for 5 CAD one way/per person (the entrance is located inside the glass square houses right near the statue - don't forget to press on the door to access this area) with the capacity of the funicular of max 6-8 people and going every minute, reaching the old town in 1 minute.
The other option is to walk all the way here, if you have the energy, and immerse yourself in more touristic attractions with lots of over prices cake shops/ice cream shops/nougaterie or restaurants and fashion shops far detached from the French or European fashion though.
Cobbled streets located near the water, the ferry not far from here, a gorgeous piazza with people watching as in the style you find in most of Med countries, if you are fortunate to be here on a sunny day.Written October 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We have been to many cathedrals but the ceiling/vault (?_) had a beautiful purplish tint and imparted it such an amazing pious quality that made you truly appreciate that you were in a sacred space. Really impressed my wife and I. Amazing place to visit.Written April 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tahliastravelsBrisbane, Australia160 contributionsBeautiful views during the winter, so snowy and gorgeous. We loved this spot. We didn’t go into the museum but did just walk around the areas that we could and it was spectacular. Definitely worth a stop by if you’re in the area. I wish we had’ve had the opportunity to go into it to see more.Written March 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TimA_22233Atlanta, GA236 contributionsWhen we walked into the Place, the first words out of my wife's mouth were, "this is SO PRETTY!" This from a woman who's been to Paris (twice!), Rome, and Rio de Janeiro. The colonial buildings around it are close to you, but they don't push in on you; they just add elegance to the scene. It's small, not grand like Piazza Navonna, but it's one of those small spaces that glamorizes easily. When we went, the Place was done up for the Holidays; but I see in Google Images that they do it up for spring and summer, too. Add some tables and umbrellas in the summer, and suddenly it's the French cafe culture. You could spend fifteen minutes here or an hour. Either way you'll enjoy the time, and the thing is: tomorrow you'll remember it and you'll want to come back.Written December 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - George J1 contributionI love Quebec City! Short flight to experience French cuisine, cobble stone stone streets in one of the oldest cities in North America. And, these French speakers are actually Friendly! Let me not forget to mention the great exchange rate for our dollar.Written November 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dimitris LSydney, Australia45,636 contributionsThe Plains Of Abraham is an important historical area. This is a battlefields park, quite large in size. Its history goes a long way back to the early days of Canada's beginnings. There are museums and many activities that take place here. It is definitely worth visiting and learning so much about the country's French and British past.Written October 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wireless_in_CAUnited States5,037 contributionsThe Parliament Building was very accessible to visitors as long as one brought their official ID and go through security.
There was a free coat check and we grabbed our official tour book from the rack on the opposite side. Only French language tours were available the day of our visit.
Some of the highlights we liked from the tour were the following
Blue Room - I had to turn off my cellphone before being allowed inside.
Le Parlementairo - formal dining room with a beautiful stained glass tunnel entrance
Ocular - in the basement with a view up
Library
The Red Room was closed for renovations and the guard could not give a timeline.
Politics was not my favorite subject but the exhibits did a good job in explaining Quebec’s system and comparing it to other countries like the US, France and UK.
We learned a lot during our time on site so well worth a visit. We spent almost one hour inside.Written April 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very efficient all round and strangely quiet on a sunny Sunday morning.
Sat out on the deck for both crossings.
Not a great deal new to see apart from the Quebec skyline and that lovely hotel …Written October 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The jail cells, the history of the few women who got educated, the solid wood railings and hewn floors and the library!
