Fans of Dear John, Allied and Atonement will not want to miss Purple Hearts on Netflix.
The romantic movie, based on the novel of the same name by Tess Wakefield, is directed by Dead to Me's Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum.
Purple Hearts follows the love story of Cassie, a struggling singer-songwriter, and Luke, a troubled Marine, who agree to marry solely for military benefits. Tragedy strikes in Iraq, however, and the lines between pretend romance and real life get crossed.

Cassie—Sofia Carson
Sofia Carson stars as Cassie, a struggling singer and songwriter, working in a bar.
Cassie has Type I diabetes and her career and bar job do not enable her to get decent health insurance to pay her medical bills.
Running out of options, Cassie suggests a fake marriage to her childhood friend Frankie, but because he has a girlfriend, she is introduced to his friend Luke, who agrees to the arrangement, with no strings attached. Inevitably, however, things are not as easy as planned, especially when feelings get involved.
Carson is best known for her role as Ava Jalali in Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.
She is also well known for playing Evie in Disney's Descendants film series and for her roles in Austin & Ally, Feel the Beat and Songbird.
In addition to starring in Purple Hearts, Carson also serves as an executive producer, and she co-wrote and performs on the movie's soundtrack.
Luke—Nicholas Galitzine
Nicholas Galitzine plays Luke, a drug addict in recovery who owes his former drug dealer a lot of money.
Luke is also a new recruit to the Marines, which he joined in hope of a fresh start and to earn the respect of his father. His life is turned upside down when he is seriously injured by an improvised explosive device, which brings him and Cassie closer together.
Galitzine starred as Prince Robert in the 2021 live-action Cinderella, alongside Camila Cabello. His other credits include Chambers, The Craft: Legacy and Handsome Devil.
Frankie—Chosen Jacobs
Chosen Jacobs plays Frankie, Cassie's childhood friend and Luke's comrade in the Marines.
Jacobs is best known for playing young Mike Hanlon in Andy Muschietti's IT and IT: Chapter Two, Wendell Deaver in Castle Rock and El on Disney+'s Sneakerella.
Johnno—Anthony Ippolito
Anthony Ippolito portrays Johnno, a drug dealer from Luke's past who is determined to get the money Luke owes him.
Ippolito, well known for playing George Wright on Netflix's Grand Army, also starred in Pixels, Fool's Day and You Have the Right to Remain Violent.
Nora—Kat Cunning
Kat Cunning plays Nora, Cassie's good friend and bandmate.
Cunning is an actor, model, dancer and musician, well known for playing Christina Fuego in HBO's The Deuce.
Their other credits include Trinkets and Marry Me.
Jacob Morrow Sr.—Linden Ashby
Linden Ashby portrays Jacob, Luke's estranged father and retired military police officer.
Ashley, well known for his role as Noah Stilinski in the TV series Teen Wolf, will reprise his role as Noah in Teen Wolf: The Movie, which is set to debut on Paramount+ on October 15. His other credits include The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place and Loving.
