The Providence Journal to offer some stories for subscribers only

Michael McDermott
The Providence Journal

At The Providence Journal, we love our subscribers. Their support allows our reporters, photographers and editors to do the important work they do each day, acting as Rhode Island citizens' trusted advocate.

That's why starting today, we will mark certain stories each day as being "for subscribers only" on our website, providencejournal.com.

In order to access these select stories, a digital subscription will be required. Existing print subscribers have access to all stories when they activate the digital access that comes with their newspaper subscription.

Last year was an extraordinary year, and The Journal's staff worked tirelessly to help you understand the latest developments with the pandemic, the racial justice demonstrations, and much more. It's why the New England Newspaper & Press Association picked us as newspaper of the year -- in both the weekly and Sunday categories.

This year will be just as momentous, as the state emerges from the coronavirus crisis under the leadership of a new governor and House speaker. And as we've done every day for 192 years, we intend to cover it like no one else.

The stories that will be marked "for subscribers only" will include some of our signature work -- investigations from our Watchdog Team, political analysis from our State House bureau, columns, local sports stories and food content -- stories that you can only find on providencejournal.com.

Digital subscriptions are available now with introductory rates as low as $3 a month. You can find all our offers at providencejournal.com/subscribenow
