Acrostic for Sunday, May 5, 2024

by David Balton & Jane Stewart, edited by Joel Fagliano

Solve the clues to read the quote. Fill in the quote to solve the clues. The author and title of the work will appear in the bottom grid.

Note: this page doesn't work on phones. A physical keyboard is required.

Constructor notes: The construction of this puzzle presented an entertaining challenge. Could we make an acrostic with every clue thematic? We realized early on that making all of the clues thematic might well tip off solvers as to the theme. So we made some of the answers thematic instead, and tried to make more of the clues challenging or obscure than we typically do.

Sharpen your pencils — or other utensils!
