The future Queen of Belgium, who is studying at the University of Oxford, has met with Barack Obama.

Crown Princess Elisabeth, who is on a History and Politics course at Lincoln College, is the eldest of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium’s four children.

The 22-year-old, who is next in line to the throne, met the former US President with her father at the Castle of Laeken in Brussels.

After Mr Obama spoke to the Belgian royals, the 44th US President gave a keynote speech at a technology event near Antwerp on Sunday, March 17.

The princess wore an aptly royal blue two-piece as she was photographed alongside her father and Mr Obama.

Princess Elisabeth made headlines in February after befriending a fellow student at Oxford who is studying history at the same college as her.

Nicholas Dodd of Rochdale first met the princess on their matriculation day in October 2021 and since then the pair have allegedly become close.

According to a Belgian newspaper as per The Times, the pair have since developed a relationship that “transcends friendship”.

Before moving to Oxford, Princess Elisabeth studied at Atlantic College, a boarding school set in a 12th-century castle in the Vale of Glamorgan.

After her grandfather’s abdication due to health reasons back in 2013, she became the Duchess of Brabant and heir apparent.
