Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark
really captures the vanilla portrait feel
Yea it does! Would be a cool Easter egg
He should become an admiral when George VI/Elizabeth II succeeds the throne
Any chance devs can slip this as an easter egg in the coming DLC?
I still can't figure out how to make mine look truly like a vanilla portrait.
How long does it usually take to make on of these?
If the photo is of good quality, portrait can be done in an hour or two.
Could you make a tutorial on you next one and record it?
I already made video months ago. During this time, I began to understand better how to draw in vanilla style, but the drawing principle hasn't changed

Oh ok, thank you
Ngl I didn’t expect young Prince Philip to be this good looking
He literally gets to call his wife my Queen and still not be a simp. Of course he radiated chad in his heyday
You are a bunch of fuckin weirdos
based greek genes
None of those 'Greek' kings were actually of Greek heritage, it was an installed monarchy.
Mostly German-Danish, honestly.
Is it really a true european monarchy if it isnt germanic?
House of Bourbon is descended from the Basque kings of Navarre in Northern Spain. The Swedish house of Bernodotte is French.
Wait a godamn second, the Basque? Those alien speakers whose language has nothing to do with anyone elses? The french monarchy is related to those guys?
Lol, Swedes needed a monarch so Napolean sent them one of his best.
You realize that most of Europe is "German". As these were the tribes that went around conquering everything after the WRE fell. The "French" are Germans. The ethnic "Dutch", German, and so on. Basque were some holdouts from the Visigoths I believe (who were germans).
But those basque kings descended directly from the capetians. So they are french after all.
The Bourbons? I'm pretty sure they weren't German and they still rule Spain.
French are clearly just germans in denial
He ain't Greek, not hairy enough
The reason he's called "of Greece and Denmark" was becuase Greece was ruled by a Danish royal house.
Helps to be this good looking when you’re 18 and you start courting your 13 year old future wife...
Probably my favorite old photo of him Incredible what being 99 does to a person.
Of course he was good looking, after all a german.
Philip was everything. British, German, Russian, Danish, etc. That's the thing with european aristocracy, lots of times you'll find almost every european country within an ancestry if you go back far enough.
Although often only one family...
I wasn't serious about it
Yo. We should totally add it into the game. Fr would not mind playing as him.
I made a mistake by opening one of the deleted threads
I love how you added your own shading! Looks great and it captures the vanilla style which is also amazing
R5: In memory of His Royal Highness
Prince Philip available (as random navy leader) in Steam Workshop https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2456695155
Rest in peace
God save the Prince
Fucking hell, I love a monarchist game in HoI4, but can I really not get away from the sycophantic tributes to that old knob even here? Yes, we get it, he's dead. And he wanted minimal fuss over his death, ironically enough. His face is plastered over billboards, parties of all stripes in this country are paying tribute, either willingly or after being browbeaten into it by monarchists, Parliament wasted 7 and a half hours the other day giving eulogies while NI burns, and I'm sure his funeral will be a gaudy enough affair. Can it not be left at that?

You do know Britain isn't run anymore by the monarchy (Queen Elizabeth stopped using that power)
smh game has adolf hitler but not prince philip.
RIP Prince Phillip
Very well done!
I got this post to 1k :)
Rest in Peace sir
May His Royal Highness rest in peace.
RIP good sir o7
He really was the hottest boy of hot boy summer 2021
The man evokes no strong feelings in me, but the portrait art is well done. Fits in right with the rest!
Wow he can pass off as a generic leader
Not pictured here is the royal phylactary that was broken recently
Denmark doesn't exist.
some random guy:
they are both the same picture
I’m surprised Lord Mountbatten isn’t a general in the game. IIRC he was put in command of the British and Indian forces in Southeast Asia towards the end of the war.
He is in the game as both a military chief for the UK and a naval chief for the Raj.
He looks like Admiral Benson (Lloyd Bridges) from Hot Shots.
He lived for 99 years too long lmao
I hope you live at least 25 years too long because this shows your clear lack of compassion. Supposed racist or not he at least lived his life not insulting the dead like you.
Lol at thinking insulting the dead is worse than being part of the british monarchy, the literal most evil entity in human history
The British monarchy arent saints but come on dude really? The most evil entity?
So they're more evil than the nazis. Good to know that in your opinion queen liz is more evil than uhhhh.... The killers of 6 million Jews.
not as bad as the nazies. but defiantly up there
As we all know, British imperialism was firmy guided by the iron fist of the British monarchy, who personally ratified every act and every crime committed by the British government. It's not like they were mostly ceremonial from the 1800's onwards or anything.
Most evil entity? That is one the most laughable things I’ve heard this week. What the monarchy has done is easily outclassed by the Spanish Empire, the Nazis, the Empire of Japan, the Soviet Union, China, North Korea etc.
the Spanish Empire
You misspelled Franco
Franco doesn’t compare to the depopulation of the Americas enough for a mention among entities with this high a death count.
Most evil entity in human history?
NSDAP party? (Realized AP stands for Arbeiterpartei)
SS?
Bolsheviks?
Nothing?
Forgot the CCP

I have to wonder how you take yourself seriously
why should I feel compassionate about a corpse of some dead fuck lmao
He wasn’t that bad of a person. He did make several questionable jokes but for the most part no offense was taken and the Chinese actually made a counter joke.
Excellent art; shame about the subject matter. Prince Philip was an abhorrent individual, as are all of the Royal Family. The only reason anybody cares about his death is because the BBC broadcast 24 hour cycles of Royalist dick-riding and most people are too dumb to research the shit he said or how much money the Royals sponge from society.
TL;DL Fuck Prince Philip.
Edit: If the devs slip him into the game like some people are asking for I'll literally stop playing.
You when seeing Hitler and nazis in the game: yawn
You if Prince Philip is put in the game: How dare they put this horrid man in the game?!?!
Edit: If the devs slip him into the game like some people are asking for I'll literally stop playing.
It's a game where you can play as the literal Nazis and that's where you decide to draw the line?
I hope you do.
Jeez what some people can get pissed about
Lunatic lmao
Generally based, although I would contend that the devs putting in bad people is nothing new. This is literally a game about WWII
Rent-free
Question what the monarchy have ever done for you and you'll feel trhe same way, I assure you.
There was also the whole fighting Italian Fascists thing too. His tangible actions are far more important than insensitive comments.
However, you don't mind Hitler in the game. Makes me think...
The difference between Prince Philip and Hitler is that you can't tell the story of WW2 without Hitler. Prince Philip had such a minute role, one that monarchist propagandists exaggerated to justify his supposed importance. I find it hilarious that people immediately jump to "You don't mind Hitler in the game?! Curious..." When the devs have done a fantastic job of including the majority of figures who actually were integral to WW2. If he had gotten blown up during the war, the Queen would have married some other inbred cousin-fucker and a sycophant would be making a HoI4 portrait for him when he eventually died too.
Oh, and I actually got my DofE Gold award back in my school days. The orienteering component was a great excuse to get baked with my mates.
TL;DR Prince Philip was not important in WW2.
Question what the monarchy have ever done for you
Here's a thing it's done for you
Unrelated bollocks
Ok
We exiled his family from Greece does his title remains?
It did until he decided to drop them i think?
He was the Duke of Edinburgh. Of the United Kingdom you fuckin prat. In July 1947, he abandoned his Greek and Danish titles and styles, became a naturalised British subject, and adopted his maternal grandparents' surname Mountbatten. He married Elizabeth on 20 November 1947. And if he didn't, he would have been a nobody.
No... He would have been a nobody with Greek and Danish titles.
