WHM - Presence of Mind
I'd use it more if the CD wasn't as long as Benediction's. Thoughts?

Use it in place of Swiftcast if you dont have swiftcast (raising).
Use it + Divine seal if something goes wrong and you need to heal several people fast.
Use it for a DPS burst at the end of boss fights or DPS intensive phases, since it lets you get out more casts.
i just use it when i feel like going super saiyan heal mode. I even say "HWYAAAA" and just start tossing out cures like energy blasts. what.
but energy blasts never do shit.
I think I'll do this now. HWYAAAAAA!
The best moment where I have found to use presence of mind is in turn 4 during phase 6 where the tank I'm healing has both dreadknights and hallowed ground is on cooldown. Just allows for a little bit quicker healing and by the time it's almost done with the buff one of the dreadknights is dead.
I'm not a huge fan of Presence of Mind for a few reasons. As a preface, I'll say that I'm a heavily geared WHM on Turn 5 and have very rarely used it. That being said, here's why I don't use it.
Its cast animation is too long. Typically its use is for those immediate healing demand moments, where you need to get off heals fast. However, after pressing the button and waiting for the animation to finish in order to cast a spell, you could have gotten a Cure II off in the same time.
Lastly, the cool down makes it extremely unappealing. Having to wait so long for an already fairly lackluster skill is not a good sign whatsoever. If it had a shorter cool down, I might use it more often.
There's my two cents on Presence of Mind.
A thousand times this. Its only use is to catch up on healing if you're spamming C2, but if you're behind on heals by the time its cast animation is done the person you're healing will be dead. Same with benediction and its fucked up 2 second animation.
"Oh shit the tank has 1k hp better Benediction"
You heal yourself for 4125 HP
thanks squeenix
I'm currently pondering if I should give a more responsive tab-targeting, button-pressing MMO a try again, just to see how snappy things can be if effects of casts are not delayed by useless animations. Or how it feels to play on a server hosted on the continent I live on.
When's the next WoW-addon due to arrive again? I doubt I could stand that game for more than two weeks, but two weeks of sheer snappiness start to sound like pure bliss.
It shaves off a good .4-.5 seconds on Medica, and makes Cure II's noticeably faster when you expect heavy damage, like Enrage in Turn 5 or double juggernaut. I usually use it after using a regen however, to make use of the GCD from regen with the cast animation from Presence of Mind. I do agree the cooldown is very long, and I'd like to see it shortened. But I probably wouldn't use it that often anyway.
I usually use Presence of Mind with Divine Seal when I know i need to do some heavy healing. there are currently only 2 instances where i actually ever needed to use it: in titan hm post-heart & WP speed runs due to the amount of dps tank is getting on mass pulls.
I never had the need to use it for OMG moments, Siwftcast (& Surecast to a lesser extent) gives me what i need for those omg moments.
Overall, i just never use it much due to the long c/d & just Divine Seal by itself is more than enough 99% of the time. I can't say how useful it is in coil since i've only done turn 1.
This is when I use it. If you're just chaincasting Cure II and the tank's health is still a little less after each cast.... Obviously your hps is not keeping up, and the only way to fix that is to cure bigger or cure faster. I DS first, then if I notice the hps slipping again before DS is back up, PoM second.
If the animation lock didn't cut into nearly 2 seconds of its effect and the CD was shorter, then yes it'd be worth using regularly. For now its for initial boss DPSing for Stone II spam.
like most people have said, its really dependant on dire situations, or dps increase, however, it is amazing if only for a little bit. the tool tip is really mis leading, it should really say doubles spell speed. it is disgusting how fast i can cast with it up. and i use it at least once every WP speed run. whether it be for healing a slightly undergeared tank or spamming holy on pulls. so there i get the reason for its long ass cooldown. cause in my eyes its more reliable than benediction, due to lack of forever long animation.
Not quite double, it shortens Raise to about 4.5 seconds from 7 for me which is the metric I used to look at its speed. Still, its a significant increase for any spell.
He said double spell speed not halve cast time
Presence of Mind is really great - the cooldown is a tad too long for what it is though.
1 healer dead and 8 tumult phase and hes warming up buster. Turn 1 split adds get to 4 stacks.
presence of mind holy spam destroys on speed runs
Yeah, this is about the main usage I get from it. Only other times I use it is when I realize I haven't used it in forever, and just pop it randomly.
I use it preemptively, when I know a shitstorm is afoot, often after sealing a regen for the tank. Also, Presence of Mind is handy at the beginning of some boss fights, when I have nothing to do. I pop it and spam Stone II to give the group an edge.
I use it in WP all the time in RDF since everyone likes to run off.
I have yet to see someone mention the DPS increase it gives during those 10 seconds. It helps during fights when you have a downtime where healing is necessary, which is the first ten seconds (or more) of many bossfights
make a macro: /micon cure /ac cure <t> /ac presence of mind
It will fire off constantly without you even realizing it.
I also think its cooldown is way too long. It's a good ability, really - if a tad short - but it doesn't seem good enough to warrant that five-minute cooldown.
I think it's too short of a buff for it's CD. But I still like it, especially when I know I will need to pump lots of heals. Mainly use it in speed runs just before tank bunkers down and starts to build aggro on the mobs.
I use it on Turn 4 phase 6 when enrage hits to get serious medica spams going on + divine seal.
Haven't really used it other than I want to spam cure 1's faster to up my chance of free cures in other content.
The problem is, any time you would need it, is ruined by the fact it is on global cooldown.
If you are non stop healing someone and need faster heals, activating PoM will actually slow you down due to the GCD, it's dangerous to use. If it was OFF GCD, I'd use it all the time.
It is an Off GCD buff. If it were on GCD you could cast it whenever you wanted it and mot have to wait 3 minutes.
I have yet to be in a situation where I thought Presence of Mind was necessary. Sure, I use it from time to time, however I recommend leveling up a THM up to level 26 to unlock Swiftcast! Swiftcast is much more useful for those "OH SHOOT!" moments (when a tank dies, or you need to pop off a quick Cure 2 or Stoneskin!).
TL;DR Get a THM up to 26 and use Swiftcast!
Every WHM needs to get 26 thm and 34 acn otherwise they aren't playing their job correctly.
I could see Presence of Mind being useful while Swiftcast is on cooldown!
The only time I used PoM is for stoneskin all the party in a 8 size party...
PoM cancel the animation sometimes too, at least for me, so I don't like using it in a high tension situation. I would rather spam with divine seal than spam with PoM
Swiftcast is only useful ONCE.
After that, I needed PoMind.
That's a weird way to word that since you can SC five times within the PoM CD.
you're using it wrong then.
i always use swiftcast whenever it's available. whether it's for medica 2, or for instant stoneskin for the tank.
If you use swiftcast whenever it's available, it may not be available when it really matters.
the cooldown is fast enough for it to be available when you need it. plus, you have the other healer for res or a summoner if you have one, and you really shouldnt be dying anyway.
But using swiftcast would lower your hps output due to the extra 1s or so animation.. sure that ONE heal get through quicker but the cooldown after the heal persists so you use 3,5 seconds for one heal instead of 2,5, lowering your output. That is true for scholars atleast, I dont know about recast times for WHM.
Correct. Only for emergency cures if you don't need anything immediately afterwards.
I usually only ever use this cooldown to cast stone-skin on everyone. But other than that I've been using it on the dual dreadnought part of turn4, it saves a lot of mana compared to spamming cure 2s at that part, and it'll allow me to cast the odd cure on a dps without putting the tank in too much jeopardy
This was my thought as well. Turn 4 is a nightmare and I'd pop it there too.
I used to use it in sticky situations but now that I have better gear it just never comes up.
Normally I forget about it unless I find myself doing something I shouldn't during trash mobs (like reading reddit) and look back at the screen and think "Oh shit. I should probably heal the tank now."
huh?
turn 4 phase 6 turn 5 phase 1 turn 5 phase 2 turn 5 phase 4 turn 5 phase 5
????
It's far too situational for me to justify using it. It's easier for me to adapt using other cooldowns effectively. It's not something I'd ever rely on because of the long cooldown. There's other things that work in place of it.
