Friday's HS roundup: Marston, Biddle lift Portsmouth field hockey past Kennett

NORTH CONWAY - Charlotte Marston and Emma Biddle both scored a goal as the Portsmouth High School field hockey team beat Kennett, 2-1 on Friday in a Division I contest.

Portsmouth goalie Samara Buck had six saves. Defensively, Maggie Conklin and Sydney Moreau played well for the Clippers.

FIELD HOCKEY

HAMPTON - Hannah Ritchie had three goals and three assists for the Warriors in this Division I win.  

Abby Wilber added three goals, while Hayden Adams, Grace Vander Els and Emerson Parish all had two. Amelia McAfee and Leila Husson both had one assist. 

Winnacunnet goalie Marissa Abrahams had one save. 

Wells 2 

Traip Academy 0 

WELLS, Maine - Senior Aubrie Murdock and sophomore Charlotte Masse both played well in the loss for Traip.

PELHAM – Ariana Cuevas had five kills and 15 service points for Somersworth in this Division II opener. 

Individual game scores were 25-10, 25-7, 21-25, and 25-18. 

Shauna Bretmaier had seven kills for the Hilltoppers. 

St. Thomas Aquinas 3

WEARE - Enya Kaonga had seven digs and five assists for St. Thomas in this Division II win. 

Individual game scores were 25-20, 25-20, and 25-11. Mya Ford had seven digs for the Saints, while Sonya Engalichev and Ashleigh Von der linden both had five kills.

DOVER – Tory Vitko had 24 assists and Sam Winters had 12 kills in this Division I win for Dover. 

Individual game scores were 25-15, 25-20, and 25-19.  

Corinn Kephart added six kills and two blocks for Dover. 

Windham 3 

Winnacunnet 0 

HAMPTON – The Warriors dropped their Division I season opener by scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-8. 

GIRLS SOCCER

KITTERY, Maine - Nora Gilbert and Julia Durling both scored two goals for Traip, while Sarah Robillard and Molly Sawtelle each had one. 

Sawtelle added two assists for the Rangers. Traip goalie Olivia O’Leary had four saves. 

St. Thomas Aquinas 7 

Somersworth 0 

DOVER - Amanda Behre scored two goals, and Ella Pottle, Maddie Karsonovich, Sophie Nadeau and Emma Lane all had one for St. Thomas Aquinas in this Division III win. 

Mia Campbell had three assists for the Saints. 

Somersworth goalie Grace Bronkema had 21 saves. Harper Blank, Jillian Plummer, Ella Parr and Gabby Lensky all played well in the loss.

RAYMOND – Nate Levine and Brady Rogers each scored a goal for St. Thomas Aquinas (1-1-1) in this Division III contest. 

Marcus Broom and Vinny Simonelli each had an assist for the Saints. St. Thomas goalie Liam Lena had five saves.

WATERBORO, Maine – Wyatt Yager had three goals and Trevor Wozny and Andrew Daskos both had one for Marshwood.

MANCHESTER – Junior goalie Tanyon Ziolkowski had four saves in this Division I loss for Winnacunnet (2-1).

SOMERSWORTH – Somersworth goalie Kyle Wilbur had 15 saves in this Division III loss. 

Alex Brown, Zephan Yoder, Corbin Wood and Nahum Yoder all played well for the Hilltoppers. 

GOLF 

Exeter places second in four-team match 

CONCORD – Connor Allard shot a 35 and Will Ducharme had a 36 as Exeter placed second in a four-team match at Concord Country Club. 

Concord won with a team score of 187, while Exeter (190), Hanover (214) and Nashua North (217) placed second through fourth, respectively. 

Jascha Johnston shot a 39 for the Blue Hawks, while Christian Barone and Andrew Degan both shot a 40. 

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY 

Marshwood wins five-team meet 

KENNEBUNK – Marshwood’s Braden Butler covered the 3.1-mile course in 17 minutes, 13 seconds and placed third overall. 

Marshwood won with a team score of 52 points. Bonny Eagle (59), Kennebunk (62), Gorham (77) and Windham (105) placed second through fifth, respectively. 

Finn Theos (eighth, 18:18), Hayden Sawyer (12th, 19:03), Luke Dockham (14th, 19:22), and Sam DeGrappo (15th, 19:27) rounded out the Marshwood lineup. 

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY 

Marshwood places third 

KENNEBUNK – Marshwood's Sarah McClellan placed third overall in a time of 19 minutes, 36 seconds. 

Marshwood placed third with a team score of 64, trailing Bonny Eagle (20) and Gorham (62). Kennebunk (95) and Windham (122) placed third and fourth, respectively. 

Addie Fuller (seventh, 20:31), Maggie Chamberlain (14th, 21:01), Emma Tessier (17th, 21:22) and Brynn Butler (29th, 23:20) all ran for Marshwood.
