Looking to spend a night in Portsmouth the first weekend of November for a friends birthday. Wanted to make sure that there would be options to eat and enjoy a few beers. Also if any of the shops are open during the day on Saturday? Or does it all shut down like a ghost town? When there int he summer it looks like it may stay open for the most part. thanks!

There are tons of great restaurants and bars in Portsmouth. They will all be hopping and open all weekend, along with great shops and boutiques. Have fun!

I was there last weekend and the downtown historic area was hopping. Everything was open and there were many locals shopping and eating.
