2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Gets New Sand Dune Metallic Color: First Look

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 adds three new exterior colors to its palette: Dark Ash Metallic, Glacier Blue Metallic, and Sand Dune Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Sand Dune hue.
Assigned RPO code GTL and touch-up paint code WA-661G, Sand Dune Metallic is one of 10 exterior colors offered on the full-size light duty pickup truck, which include:
- Black
- Cherry Red Tintcoat
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
- Northsky Blue Metallic
- Red Hot
- Silver Ice Metallic
- Summit White
- Dark Ash Metallic (new for 2022)
- Glacier Blue Metallic (new for 2022)
- Sand Dune Metallic (new for 2022)
The Sand Dune Metallic color is a no-cost item that is only available on the Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, and ZR2 trim levels. It can only be combined with the following interior colorways:
- Jet Black on Custom Trail Boss
- Jet Black or Gideon/Very Dark Atmosphere on LT Trail Boss
- Jet Black/Graystone on ZR2
The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup debuted on September 9th, introducing a long list of highly-anticipated changes and updates over the preceding 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 Limited models. Perhaps the biggest change to the refreshed model is a new interior on LT and higher trim levels, meaning LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, High Country, and the all-new 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2.
On the outside, the refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 features a revamped front fascia, including new headlights with animated walk-up and walk-away features along with swiping turn signals on certain trims.
In many trim levels, the refreshed 2022 Silverado features the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine as standard. The boosted four produces 24 percent more torque for a total of 430 pound-feet in the refreshed models. The truck will also continue offering the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 and 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engines, as well as the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbo-diesel Duramax. Under the skin is the same GM T1 platform as prior to the refresh.
U.S. pricing for the 2022 Chevy Silverado starts at $35,495 including the destination freight charge for the entry-level Work Truck trim level.
As of 2019, Chevy Silverado 1500 models have been assembled at the GM Silao plant in Mexico and the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, USA. Additionally, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada will soon join these two facilities in producing the Silverado 1500 models. This will make Oshawa the only GM plant to exclusively produce Silverado models, as opposed to both Silverado and Sierra models, and also the only plant to assemble both light and heavy duty trucks.

Starting at @ $69,195 as shown Wow. Nice truck though.
The base price is high but the options are very limited. A loaded truck is 73 balls out.
They’ve marketed this truck as the LTZ Trailboss+ in the option tiers and it will sell very well.
Most TB’s I see are at least premium package trucks with leather. Applying 22.5+ and Brandon’s economy it’s about 5 grand more. For way more truck inside out and under.
It’s not a bad deal. But inflation is a definitely a female dog. And that’s unilateral

A house will last a lifetime, vehicle’s a few years. Buy another house/condo rent it and make a profit with your hard earned money. Buy the cheap as possible transportation. Just a thought, it works.
Tough pill to swallow bought a 19 Gmc Sierra Denali HD (2500) 4×4 crew duramax for $61,500 new 3 years ago.
Inflation accounts for some, but most of the increase is simply the willingness of buyers to pay for it.

I can’t remember the last American truck in that color, I’m not sure about it but it is growing on me.
GM needs to hire new interior designers! Especially for the cost. They have to have one huge profit margin. Look at the low end price verses the high end. Price gouging comes to mind. The pricing mark up is throughout the truck industry, exorbitant. Especially for something that depreciates at such an alarming rate. Bumper to bumper warranty for six years or until paid off. It’s your money!
That Sand Dune is one ugly color.
Does the 2.7 l L3B engine require high octane 92 fuel?
Any forced induction engine should be running premium fuel. And any high compression (6.2) engine.
Just because it can doesn’t mean you should. All the pretty EPA MPG and SAE numbers were not run with 87 on these motors.
Direct injection turbocharged/high compression engines do not need premium if the manufacturer doesn’t say so. That’s obsolete thinking.
When the fuel is directly injected into the cylinder, it does not pick up heat from the valve area, as in a conventional engine, and simply has less time to absorb heat from the charge and cylinder walls. DI engines instead rely on higher injection pressures to create a finer mist that, when combined with cylinder head-induced airflow, vaporizes with less heat.
On the second point, since MY 2020, EPA emissions and efficiency tests are done on regular fuel unless the manufacturer labels the vehicle as premium fuel only. Prior to that, manufacturers had to show less than 3% change between octane ratings, unless it was a premium fuel only vehicle.
all most every truck on GM authority use’s black only pictures with black grills, black wheels , black plastic’s all over the exterior, black interiors , black chrome , its all aimed at gear heads . try living in Florida with all this black and the heat , and sun fade all this crap out in a year’s time. does GM do anything classy with there pick up trucks any more ? the yukon’s, the buicks, the escalades don’t have all this black plastic.

There’s a Custom Trail Boss with this color at my local dealer now. I’ve not been a fan of black wheels/rims by personal choice the past several years but with this paint the combination looks very good especially when lit up by sunlight. It has enough metallic in the paint making it really pop. Certainly worth consideration if inventory ever happens again to make a comparison with.
Is Navigation offered in any Silverado’s?
or do we have to rely solely on Android Auto?
They’ve had navigation since 2007. You must be in Australia or New Zealand.
Live in Arizona and the ” black plastic ” hasn’t faded on my 2021 Silverado and if it does there are products to take care of the fading.
Absolutely , in one year there is not much change , but year 2 and 3 its going south, and I guess your that guy that armor alls everything , there is no reason 800 -90K trucks should have all this cheap ass black plastic especially silverado’s wheel lips, hood, bed steps, bumper steps, running boards, parts of grill , ect. it looks like crap.
ZR2 is the sweetest truck I,ve ever seen. Always been gm fan, yet the new colour and wheels sets it off. I would like to see one on the lot.
Not that guy that armor all everything, live down 8 miles of dirt roads and I never had problems with my 2014 Silverado that I traded in for the 2021 nor have I had any problems with my wife’s 2019 Silverado. You own a new Ford f350 so why don’t you go enjoy your Ford and stop bashing Chevrolet for cheap plastic exterior and interior. I challenge you to take a magnet and find any where on the interior that magnet will stick on that awesome Ford.
yes I do, and I have a 2019 2500 denali, and Ram 3500 mega cab, so I have the right to talk about quality all I want. The interior of my Ram and King ranch has multi colors , wood grains , brushed finishes , soft dash , chrome pieces , ect, yes all plastic , but not cheap ass Blown plastic like my denali, not to mention little tiny dash knobs , thin flat seats , ect. You are GM loyal, I am not. You say there are products to take care of the fading, The dam trucks cost 80 – 90 grand, you should not have to re-finish nothing. My Yukon XL denali does not have all this cheap ass plastic on exterior. GM knows there interior sucks too , they said it there self in 2020. your 2014 silverado had a cheap ass blown interior along with cheap exterior door handles and a cheap tail gate handle, but it had a nice exterior that was painted and stayed looking great for years. the new exteriors are cheap as hell, and there painted bumpers chip like crazy. bought my son a 2011 silverado back in the day, chrome bumpers , all trim was painted truck looked great , he drove it 121K miles and it did well and in 5 years needed a battery and a set of front brake pads, and oil changes every 3K miles, and it looked as good the day it was sold, but GM is producing garbage compare to a few years ago and I’m not the only one on this site saying that. 88% of there interiors are black, GM use to be great and I hate there direction like others say too. 80K trucks and they install a cheap unfinished black wheel lip molding on a SLE or denali , a Black bed step the is a dam eye sore, and all the other cheap looking crap, Fake allison transmission, stupid looking door mount mirrors , thin ass seats, and it go’s on. once again your Loyal GM and there are a lot of you, I get it, I’m not loyal to any one and they all have pros and cons I agree.
