PATRICIA M. COLLINS, 87, of Port St. Lucie, FL, peacefully passed away January 13, 2015 at her home surrounded by family.
Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to John B. Walsh and Catherine Moynahan Walsh, Patricia was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and attended the University of New Hampshire.
Known throughout the seacoast area as “Pretty Patty Walsh”, she pursued her passion for music by singing with the John Howe Band at local military bases, the Colonial Club and on radio during the 1940’s. During World War II, she was a member of the Ground Observer Corps. Patricia worked at the New England Telephone Company and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Married in 1953, Patricia and her husband Harry T. Collins raised their family in Andover, MA. She was a beloved wife, mother and friend, and was very involved in the community. Patricia was past president and member of the Andover Garden Club, and a parishioner and choir member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Andover.
In 1993, she relocated to Port St. Lucie, FL, and volunteered at the St Lucie County Library for 10 years. She was a member of the St. Lucie Catholic Church, the St. Lucie County Catholic Women, Senior Social Club and Savanna Club Book Club.
Patricia enjoyed a life-long love of music of which she passed down to both her children and grandchildren. There was always music in the house and Patricia was often heard singing along. She enjoyed numerous trips to visit family throughout the country and also traveled to Ireland, France, Spain and Greece.
Survived by her five children, Cynthia Silva of Port St. Lucie, FL, Harry Collins, Jr. and his wife Christine of Andover, MA, Barbara Collins Moore and husband Herman of Florida, Elizabeth Farren and husband Thomas of Ft. Myers, FL, David Collins of Broomfield, CO; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, William Walsh of Portsmouth, NH; sister, Catherine Smith of Ontario, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Harry T. Collins, Sr., her brother John Walsh and son-in-law David Silva.
Services will be held in the spring in Andover, Massachusetts.
