We really enjoy their breakfast offerings. Recently we tried their spicy turkey sausage and eggs....the sausage is excellent1 I really like that I could substitute a blueberry pancake instead of potatoes for no extra charge. A nice atmosphere and unique offerings for breakfast.

I was told by a good friend that while I was traveling to Albuquerque, I should stop into one of the flying star cafés. Since we were staying at the north end of town, we stopped into this one. There were quite a few people...in here for a 9 AM breakfast. Appears to be a regular place for lots of locals. Once we got past the pastries and danishes, ordering at the counter, which is required, was very straightforward. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which gave options such as red sauce, green sauce, both, none. I chose both. This also came with eggs prepared anyway you like, and some deep fried or grilled potatoes. They also asked if you wanted corn or flour tortillas. Have a look at the photo, and you’ll see that this was quite a bit of food. I really enjoyed it, the service here was very good. For my next trip to Albuquerque, I plan to stop by again, and try something else on the menu.More

I'm always on the hunt for good Gluten Free pancakes, and my friends, who live locally, brought me here, for lunch. I had the Gluten Not Flapjacks, with rice flour, millet, flax, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, topped with almonds and cranberries. They were delicious, with...great texture. The service is very attentive, very friendly and they also had gluten free blueberry scones - bonus!More

In an effort to support local eateries, we chose Flying Star for lunch the other day. Among other things, we ordered an omelet with spinach, onions, bacon and cheese. Pretty simple, right? Oddly, what we received was a cold, severely undersized egg concoction with raw...onions, a protruding bush of raw spinach and a single, whole piece of under-cooked bacon inside. (The cheese was later discovered in microscopic quantity in the far end of the omelet.) What ever happened to a hearty omelet loaded with traditionally sautéed fillings? Although more expensive that many other lunch venues, we’ve eaten at multiple Flying Star locations, mostly on the choice of my guests. Unfortunately, there’s always been room for dramatic improvement, each and every time. Cumulatively, these food follies as well as this latest fare faux pas, initiated this necessary written heads up to other Flying Star customers. Even without my sixteen years in restaurant management, it is easy to recognize good food with good value. Sadly, my final visit to Flying Star lacked any semblance of either. This entire restaurant chain could really benefit from some professional outside coaching, not to mention thorough deep cleaning from top to bottom, inside and outside. Perhaps the highest priority should be a comprehensive evaluation of the perceived and actual value of each menu item as compared to the hefty prices charged. We certainly hope they can improve both their offerings as well as their fading image. We wish the Flying Star well, but from a distance.More

My daughter chose Flying Star for a Birthday lunch. She and I both ordered Fish and Chips. I have to say that both my daughter and I have never been so disappointed as we were with the meal we were served. It Whoever dropped the...fish in the fryer had to have forgotten it for several minutes. The batter had been turned into a burnt, hard shell that was woefully hard to chew and the delicate fish inside had the texture of rubber. The french fries tucked underneath the the fish were cold and droopy. Neither one of us could eat what sat before us. What a bummer for a Birthday lunch!More

Love the food (which is why this is a two star review and not a one star) but the accuracy and quality control needs some vast improvement. I place a to-go order for Two Birds and a Biscuit two to three times a month and...AT LEAST 50% of the time, there is no side of gravy, leaving the meal fairly dry. In the past I've also ordered the Superstar BLT with an addition of avocado for an extra charge. The sandwich is delicious but getting home and finding no avocado is really disappointing. The food is great . . . . . when you get what you paid for.More

My husband had the fish and chips and said the fish was good but the fries were cold. I had the entree called Hidden Treasure (it was good) with a side of cold onion rings. I tipped at the beginning (big mistake) and the server...never came around so I didn’t complain about the cold sides. The desserts were great! We stayed longer than usual because it was storming when we got ready to leave. I’m hearing impaired and the place is too loud.More

One morning we split the huge breakfast burrito with red chile. OMG delicious and kept us full until dinner. Dining companions did the same. Visited twice so the other meal was the simple breakfast with two eggs, potatoes and green chile sausage and toast with...homemade strawberry jam. Yes. You are allowed to lick the jam out of the cup it comes in, it's that tasty. Our friend's burger looked really good too. I first ate at Flying Star about 12 years ago and we look forward to the food every time we pass through Alburquerque. Get a piece of pie to go or cookies or cake. So good.More

The food we got was decent, and the place seems to have some good dishes on the menu. But my first plate was completely cold (eggs, toast, etc.). My second plate was better, but toast was still cold. Also, it was hard getting the second...plate, as there are no servers to talk to. I had to take it back to the kitchen, where the "servers" seemed more interested in their conversation, than the customers. The clientele seems to be mostly college students and staff, with more than 75% of people on a laptop.More

Met a friend here for a late breakfast while passing through to Denver on the way home from Grants New Mexico. Food and service were both excellent. Enjoyed eatimg on the outdoor patio and would very happily return on another trip.

I met a friend here for lunch while visiting. Quite a few tables decently spaced outside and they have extended their patio. When I arrived, the line was to the door but by the time I left, there was no line. Food was prepared quickly...and service was good. I had the Mexican latte which was very good. I had the pollo picante which was also tasty. My only criticism is that I thought the prices were high for a lunch place.More

Flying Star used to be a very clean, open, inviting and friendly atmosphere in which to read, have a leisurely meal or quick business meeting. It is still unique, but is showing the signs of being in Chapter 11 Bankruptcy: Staff attitudes and service have...declined and the place has lost its friendly vibe. Bathrooms are just dirty and food quality isn't what it used to be. Oddly, I paid a $10 tab with a $50 bill and received all $5s change...guess they ran out of pennies. Flying Star's decline is a loss for the community. I hope it regains its financial footing and returns to the place it once was.More

This used to be a nice place to go as a little more upscale fast food restaurant and we were regulars. Sadly, it has gone the way of the cop out: fatty and too sweet. There are still some healthy dishes, but they have also...suffered. The cakes etc. are built on sugar and fat, not on flavor. The main dishes are generally rich in starch and lacking flavor. You can get better quality for your money. I remember dishes that were a little unconventional and stood on their own, without the need of too much salt, sugar or fat. Shame. I just don't feel like going back anymore.More

Very average sandwiches and salads at very high prices. Plain old turkey lettuce and tomato on white- 12 bucks and even more for a not good chicken salad sandwich. Another great place to have breakfast or lunch. Probably dinner, too, but we've not eaten dinner here. My family and my friends and I eat at the Flying Stars on Juan Tabo, Rio Grande and here at this one. The food is consistently great. My...favorite lately are their Fish Tacos, but there are so many great entrees that I also love. There is good parking here, and an ok patio in warm weather. My friends and I just wish that Flying Star would lower their prices a bit. Prices used to be reasonable, but they've climbed this past year or so.More
