Helldivers 2 Gets Two New Stratagems That Should Help Take Down Those Annoying Automatons

Here’s an odd one: the developer of Helldivers 2 has warned players against having snowball fights because they’re causing the game to crash.

Helldivers 2, Arrowhead Game Studio's highly successful sequel to 2015's Helldivers, was the highest-growing title on PC and PS5 in the US and UK in February 2024.

The Pokemon-style RPG Cassette Beasts is getting a major new update, adding online multiplayer and a host of other interesting features later this year. UK-based developer Bytten Studio and prolific indie publisher Raw Fury released Cassette Beasts on Windows and Linux computers last April, with a wider launch on Xbox systems and the Nintendo Switch the following month. Just like Pokemon, Cassette Beasts tasks players with collecting different elementally empowered creatures, although these monsters are stored within old-fashioned audio cassette tapes and summoned using a handheld cassette player.

Capcom has revealed planned updates for the recently released Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Earlier this week, we brought you word of a dangerous paranoia sweeping the ranks of Helldivers 2 players who, perhaps not getting enough sleep, have convinced themselves that operatives of an alien faction known as The Illuminate already walk among us. Well, if that sounds ridiculous, you'd best sit down for this next one: For the first time in recorded history, footage of so-called «flying bugs» has been captured, a rare mutation allowing Super Earth's oldest enemy to take to the skies, presenting Managed Democracy with an all-new threat — from above.

Helldivers 2 has a pretty wild controller layout. From mashing directional keys to order stratagems to switching between first and third person, to swinging the camera around as quickly as possible to watch an orbital laser melt a giant bug - there's a lot going on. 

Helldivers 2 continues to buck the trend of physical game sales, as it's not only still in the top 10 — it's up several places. The co-op shooter has returned to fourth after dipping to eighth last week, meaning it's really holding its own against the competition. After learning the game has sold a grand total of 8 million so far, we can't say this really surprises us.

Helldivers 2 was February’s best-selling game in Europe following an impressive launch.

While most Helldivers 2 players are busy fending off the Terminids and Automatons, some believe they have seen evidence that a third faction called the Illuminate are on their way.
