Orange Livebox/DECT phones - ringing problem

:lease: I have just replaced my 2003 Livebox with the latest version here in France, a Livebox 2 2TE, and since the change my Panasonic KX-TG5523E DECT telephones ring once every morning at variable times, but always early. Yesterday they rang at 0651, and this morning at 0631, which disturbs our sleep. I have checked that no alarms have been inadvertently set up on my telephone system.

I realise that if I re-boot my Livebox for any reason the phones will ring once when the connection is re-established, but I have no idea, of course, if my internet service connection is interupted and reconnected automatically whilst I am sleeping. It seems unlikely that this would happen every morning though.

Also, whilst making a call and talking there is a noise repeated every few seconds, like "beep", at about the same noise level as a dialing tone.

Can anybody throw any light on the reasons for my problem please? Any help in eliminating this very irritating problemwill be greatly appreciated.

I have just recently had to replace my wireless router with an Orange Livebox, and since then (or one day after the change) our Philips DECT phones have had a similar issue. We get an incoming ring or about 4-5 rings, which if unanswered, just stops ringing. If we get to answer the ring, there's absolutely no line noises at all, and the Last-Number-Called query gives no number information.

No phantom calls were received if the Livebox was switched off, so the assumption was made that it was the Livebox causing wireless interference, so the Livebox's wLAN channel was changed from its default 6 to channel 9.

I remember having a similar issue with the previous wireless router (a D-Link) where our previous DECT phones would lose their link to the base-station at random intervals. Again, a router channel change to channel 9 solved the problem.

I have made the change all of 30 minutes before reading and replying to this post, so cannot say as to whether my latest problem is solved, but would recommend going into Livebox admin and changing its wLAN channel.

It seems most domestic wireless devices using the 2.4 GHz band is set to channel 6 by default. At least, all mine have been up to this point. I imagine a different channel would reduce the possibilities of device confuzzlement.

UPDATE:

Since changing the wLAN channel on the Orange Livebox to 9, I have had no more problems with my telephones, so I'm considering this to be a known fix.

Hi there Nakatsu_Hime
Thanks very much for the reply, can you please explain to me how to go about changing to channel 9?

I did not set my new livebox up, it was done for me at the Orange shop! Plus, I cannot find any manual that came with it. So detailed info would be most welcome.

Thank you very much:)

catalac, Usually, Orange Livebox will put an admin webpage link on your PC to administrate the Livebox. You change the channel number using that admin intranet page. Not sure how Orange pre setup the Livebox, but did you get a setup CD with it?

EDIT: I see Ari33 got there first, and I was ages with my reply. Yay for ari!

Hi again. I finally have the answer to my problem, a visit to Orange Boutique at Montauban provided the solution! Apparently there is an option in the setup which causes the telephone to ring if you have messages left on your system which you have not listened to. This has been switched off now by them online. My wife assures me that she always checks for messages!!! so we are still puzzled by the information given, and they were unable to explain why we would receive a call in the early hours of the morning!!! The good news is that it has stopped ringing. Many thanks to all for your interest and assistance.
