HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — High Point Climbing and Fitness invited pet owners to socialize around the rock wall at its first ever “Dog Park Day” on Sunday afternoon.

The event was geared toward pet lovers looking to get active while including their four-legged friends.

Ben Wright with High Point says they wanted to use their outdoor space to bring joy to people who participate and hope this will attract more people to try climbing for the first time.

“Come in and climb, see for yourself, as intimidating as it may seem, we do a great job of making sure everybody knows what to do and what not to do,” Wright told News 19. “Even if you don’t have a partner, you can clip into a machine that will keep the rope tight as you move up and down the wall.”

Eventgoers that brought a can of pet food would be entered to win free or discounted passes to the climbing facility. The food will be donated to the Greater Huntsville Humane Society.

Wright added that they plan on doing more events that will involve the community and other businesses throughout the city.
