Joel McCrea's boat sinks after having hit the reefs of an isolated Pacific island. McCrea, the only survivor, manages to reach Count Zaroff's mansion where he meets Fay Wray and her brother who also survived a boat crash.
Their host Zaroff is a man whose obsession is to hunt people on his island. If the victims are still alive when dawn comes, Zaroff will let them live. Says he. On the next morning, McCrea and Fay Wray disappear in the jungle with a 24 hours advantage on Zaroff. But the island is so small it's almost impossible to hide from Zaroff and his dogs.
