    NYC Officials: 'Structural Racism' Increases Risk of Heat Stress for Black New Yorkers

    Officials at New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene reportedly sent out a warning to colleagues this week ahead of a heat wave hitting the Big Apple Thursday and Friday, warning that “structural racism” and its implications increase the risk of heat stress for black New Yorkers.

    The August 4 alert, addressed to colleagues and distributed to clinical staff in primary care, family medicine, geriatrics, internal medicine, psychiatry, pharmacy, and emergency medicine, detailed the heat advisory, which warned of temperatures reaching over 100 on Thursday and the upper 90s on Friday.

    Identifying extreme heat as the “deadliest type of extreme weather,” the letter specifically warned that “structural racism and the resulting social and economic inequities increase the risk of heat stress for Black New Yorkers.” It added that Black New Yorkers are “twice as likely to die from heat as White New Yorkers,” adding that most who die of heat stroke “did not have or use air conditioners and were overcome by heat in their homes.”

    The letter then provided a list of recommendations for providers, including encouraging people who do not have AC to visit others with it:

    Notably, the official August 3 press release from NYC Emergency Management on this matter does not include anything about “structural racism” disproportionately affecting the plight of black New Yorkers. Rather, it states:
    In New York City, most heat-related deaths occur after exposure to heat in homes without air conditioners. Air conditioning is the best way to stay safe and healthy when it is hot outside, but some people at risk of heat illness do not have or do not turn on an air conditioner. The New York City Emergency Management Department and the Health Department urge New Yorkers to take steps to protect themselves and help others who may be at increased risk from the heat.

    “Dangerous heat and high humidity are returning to New York City this week and we encourage New Yorkers to take precautions to avoid exposure to the extreme conditions,” New York City Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol said in a statement, urging New Yorkers to stay hydrated.

    The release generated a significant amount of mockery across social media.

    “NY politics are a woke joke,” one wrote as another asked, “Is this really Babylon Bee?”

    Don't know about the heat affecting their mental health but it certainly causes them to shoot each other, bystanders and the police more often during the summer months.They are best behaved in sub-zero temperatures and in snowstorms. Just saying.

        Those melon heads do tend to heat up disproportionately when it’s hot out. 👀

            I agree. Everything seems to hit the black community harder. Want to know why?
            They, as a community, as a group, as a collective people have no coping skills. They have no patience. They have no sense of priorities. They have no ability to live without complaint.

            One hundred years ago, European immigrants came here and lived in cold water slums that make the pink houses look like the Waldorf Astoria. They spoke no English, there was no welfare, no food stamps, no wic, no Medicaid, no free subway service, no nothing. They were grateful and ended up prospering on their own accord, efforts and suffering. That was the vast majority of my family’s recent generations. On behalf of them, GO FUCK YOURSELVES. When you give nothing, you deserve to get nothing.

                      Savages put nothing into life, they know they will die at an early age usually by violence at the hands of one of their own. That being said, it's not an excuse for everything in life. Go to school, learn a trade, work, pay taxes, get out of the hood and others will have respect for you. The generations living in the PJ's never change, never give up their WGAF attitude towards life and responsibility and that is the reason no one can live with them.

                        Thirty years ago Chicago was in the midst of a heat wave. So, the Clintstone admin ordered many tens of thousands of room/window AC units. Guess where they mostly ended up. Sold to the highest bidder. Even when helping some of them they turn into ungrateful thieves.

                          Its enough to make you wish for winter. When they flit to and 'fro trying to stay ahead of the cold. Ive done a whole lot of hunting, ice fishing, winter sports, and it tends to be an all Whitey experience. Making one savor it even more.

                            Note how the Left CONSTANTLY give invalid excuses for all the "ills" which a certain segment of society "suffer" from, like blaming the sun for blacks' mental health state, instead of blaming the real causes, like morbid obesity, drug and alcohol abuse, failure to correct health problems and maintain good health and diet, and blaming crime on their need of "reparations"?

                            Now that I think about it, where have we heard that before? Let me call Pantaleo and ask him.......
