CLOSED Friends of the Parks' L.A.T.E. Ride

This year's popular and unique non-competitive biking event will be held on Aug 14-15 in the wee hours of the morning in Downtown Chicago! The L.A.T.E. Ride's begin at 10:30 p.m at Buckingham Fountain and ends at around 5:00 am Sunday morning at Buckingham Fountain. The ride is sponsored by, and benefits, Friends of the Parks, the venerable non-profit park advocacy organization founded in 1975 and dedicated to preserving, protecting and improving Chicago and Cook County parks and forest preserves. This 25-mile bike ride is to actively support efforts in making Chicago one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the country. Through ATA’s Neighborhood Bikeways Campaign, Friends of the Parks is partnering to push for safer and better bike infrastructure throughout Chicago. The Chicago Park District is implementing recommendations from Friends of the Parks’ People on the Trails Report to create separate cyclist-only lanes on portions of the Lakefront Trail. Among the neighborhoods on L.A.T.E. Ride's course route are Chinatown, Little Italy, Greektown, Wicker Park, Humboldt Park, Logan Square and Horner Park/North Center as well as the Lake Michigan lakefront.
