Brief Life History of Nellie Ruth

Ellie Ruth Pillsbury, called Ruth, was born in Scarborough Maine on February 3, 1913.. she was a hard worker and she wanted to stand on her own 2 feet and she didn’t want other people to know what was wrong. That was something that you took care of yourself. As a single mother, Ruth, life was difficult, and she continued to wear her wedding ring to deflect questions about her marital status. Ruth cared for her parents and agent, relatives, often paid and can’t go to coupons, and held down a job to support her family. Ruthy pill as she was called as a teenager, Play the piano and wrote and acted in place in high school. Despite her on creative street, she always a temp temperature support for her son Stephen’s literary aspirations with practical concerns. She died too early in his career to enjoy most of his phenomenal success, but she was there for the very beginning. Her son recalled a bittersweet memory “there were bound galleys of Carrie. She was dying by that point, and she was too weak to hold a book, so her sister Evelyn read it to her” and Ruthie just said:” my son wrote that.” She married Donald Edwin King of Peru, Indiana on July 23, 1939 in Maine. Donald was born Donald Edwin Pollock, son of William E. (1888-1918 IN) and Helen A. (Bowden) Pollock (1897-1968 IN). His younger sister was Betty, b. ~1916. Between the ages of 18 and 23, Donald changed his surname to King. To this union two boys were born, David and Stephen Edwin (born Sep 21, 1947 in Portland, Maine. American author). A family history record shows Donald's later second marriage was to Helen E. Costa. Together they had five children.
