Lil Nas X bares his chiseled chest in a show-stopping feathered hoop dress and matching headpiece at the MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey

Lil Nas X made quite the impression while attending the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards at Prudential Center in New Jersey on Sunday.

The 23-year-old performer stood out from the event's other attendees as he wore an outfit that had been designed by Harris Reed for his most recent London Fashion Week presentation, which took place in February.

The hitmaker later switched out into a much more form-hugging outfit after he received the award for Best Collaboration for his work on the video for Industry Baby.

Lil Nas X donned a black furry-feathered hoop skirt while posing for a few photos at the awards ceremony.

The Old Town Road singer paired the skirt with a matching headpiece that towered above the crown of his head.

The performer, born Montero Lamar Hill, also rocked a set of sequin pants with flared-out bottom portions.

He added various elements of shine to his look for the evening with various pieces of jewelry.

According to People, Lil Nas X described his outfit as 'something fresh, something new.'

The performer also expressed that his look for the annual awards show was particularly 'heavy.'

The hitmaker made a point of stating that he felt 'amazing' while wearing Reed's clothing.

Lil Nas X later donned a black dress that featured numerous cut-out portions after accepting his award for Industry Baby.

The performer previously released the track in July of last year, and it served as the third single from his debut studio album Montero.

The song features Jack Harlow, and Kanye West both co-wrote it and served as one of its producers.

Lil Nas X initially intended for Nicki Minaj to appear on the song, but she did not respond to his offer.

The music video for the track was preceded by the release of a prelude video, which parodied the court case regarding his Satan Shoes, which were released last year.

The official video for Industry Baby was released on July 23 of last year and saw the rapper and his collaborator taking part in a prison escape.

Another video for the track, which was described as 'uncensored,' made its debut five days later.

In addition to the Best Collaboration, Industry Baby was nominated for the awards for Video Of The Year, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Choreography and Best Visual Effects.

MTV expanded the number of nominees for its top award, video of the year, to seven for the very first time in its 39-year history.

As for the regular awards, there is a three-way tie for most nominations between Lil Nas X, Kendrick Lamar, and Harlow.

The three hip-hop acts are followed closely by Doja Cat and Harry Styles, who received six nods each.
