BLACK HEBREW ISRAELITE: DOCTRINES BELIEF(S) AND DOGMA

Updated: Jul 26, 2023

The Lesson today is going to be about religious dogma, centred around some of the beliefs of the “black Hebrew Israelite’s”

Although they’re called this, I feel like the connotation “black” is derogatory, so I don’t agree with it. But I’m using this term because this is what they have come to be known as.

I do believe they are the true Israelite’s, so the “black” connotation is not required. With that let’s begin with some of their beliefs and dogma.

These beliefs and dogmas are in no particular order, and they’re also not being written to pigeonhole all Black Hebrew Israelite’s into one group.

The purpose here is to shed light on beliefs and doctrine that can not be supported by the bible scriptures.

Where I have knowledge of a group holding a particular belief or Dogma, I will mention them, this will keep things clear and accurate.

So let’s start with the first belief, in no particular order

1. The Calculation Of The Sabbath’s Using New Moons

There is a particular faction of the “black Hebrew Israelites” called GMS, which stands for Great Mill Stone…

They believe that new moons are the calculation, or sign of a sabbath.

But when we read the scriptures tells us that the Sabbath is the seventh day, which is in modern times a Saturday.

In modern times there is a conspiracy to change the Sabbath to Sunday, which is the first day of the week. This can be proven by reading any good encyclopaedia.

For instance in the Colombian encyclopaedia, it tells us that a week, originated from the Hebrew seven day week.

It was the Roman Emperor Constantine I, who changed the sabbath to the First day of the week a “Sunday”.

Incidentally he became a Christian apparently years later in 337 AD. So the question is, what gave him the right to change the sabbath day?

The scriptures say that the Roman empire would “think to change times a laws”. And wear out the Saints (Israelite’s and the true believers).

Daniel 7:25

25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Because it’s known that the first day of the week is Sunday, 7th day is Saturday, which is the Sabbath day according to the bible scriptures.

Exodus 20:8-11

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

and the Britannica encyclopaedia, you can see what the first day of the week is Sunday, below:

Because we know that the first day of the week is Sunday, the 7th day is Saturday i.e the Sabbath Day. This is the day we are commanded to “remember”.

There are no Bible scriptures that ever make mention of the Moon being used to calculate a Sabbath day.

2. The Belief Of Reincarnation

There are groups from the “black Hebrew Israelite’s” who say that we are reincarnated, but do the scriptures say this?

When we read the Scriptures, it tells us a man is appointed to die “once” and then he is judged. This leaves no room to come back as another person or animal.

Hebrews 9:27

27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

When we read the Apocrypha, it also shows us that there are stages of a man’s death once he dies.

These verses can be found in the hidden text in the Apocrypha book.

They can be found in 2 Esdras 7:75-140, In the Cambridge University Press NRSV (New Revised Standard Version).

These scriptures were taken out as fulfilment of prophecy and they debunk the claims of reincarnation.

Esdras asks the Most High what happens after we die. He asks if we go straight to torment (hell), or if we rest before we are judged.

2 Esdras 7:75

75 I answered and said, “If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?

Fortunately for Esdras the Most High tells him that he will not be tormented. This is the green light we all hope for (I certainly do!).

We are told by the Angel speaking with Esdras that the first thing seen after death is the “light”, of the Most High’s presence.

This in my mind is reminiscent of many Hollywood movies that we see today. I wonder where they got that concept from?

2 Esdras 7:78-80

78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High.
79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear God
80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways.

We are told that if the person who dies is someone that didn’t keep the commands of the Most high, that they enter into a state of torment which has 7 stages.

You can see all the stages here.

2 Esdras 7:88-91

88 Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body.
89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly.
90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them:
91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders.

On the more positive side of things, if you are a person that has kept laws of the Most High.

The first thing you’ll see is the Most High (as you can see in the above scriptures), and then you will go through 7 positive stages. You can read about these stages here.

When we read the Book of Revelation, it also tells us that there are two deaths. The first is the natural death.

Revelation 2:11

11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

After this death is the second death the spiritual death, which is Judgement.

Revelation 20:13-15

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

It is at this time we will either be sent to hell or enter the Kingdom and receive an incorruptible body. This is found in 2 Esdras 7:96, 1 Corinthians 15:51-53. Another important scripture to note is

2 Esdras 7:70

70 He answered me and said, “When the Most High made the world and Adam and all who have come from him, he first prepared the judgment and the things that pertain to the judgment. there would probably be left only very few of the innumerable multitude.”

It is made clear that the Most High set up Judgement from the beginning of his creations.

This rules out the notion of reincarnation, and us coming back as another person or animal.

We are told in scriptures, that animals do not have a judgement, nor are they torment or look for salvation like us.

2 Esdras 7:65-66

65 Let the human race lament, but let the beasts of the field be glad; let all who have been born lament, but let the four-footed beasts and the flocks rejoice! and bountiful, because he would rather give than take away;
66 For it is much better with them than with us; for they do not look for a judgment, nor do they know of any torment or salvation promised to them after death. and abundant in compassion, because he makes his compassions abound more and more to those now living and to those who are gone and to those yet to come,

That would mean that we are judged twice if we were to come back as an animal.

This would be extremely contradictory to what scriptures are teaching.

3. There’s No Immaculate Conception

The strong doctrine by black Hebrew Israelite’s is that there was no immaculate conception. They claims that the Messiah had a father, which is true…

But they also say that Joseph was the Messiahs biological father.

When we read the Scriptures we are told by the prophet Isaiah that the Most High will send us a sign of the saviour (The Messiah). That is that he would be born form a virgin.

Isaiah 7:14

14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

This is then confirmed in the book of Matthew which tells us that the Holy Spirit conceived the Messiah within Mary.

Matthew 1:18-20

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Which almost results in Joseph divorcing Mary, because he thought that she had been unfaithful. Joseph was later told by an Angel that Mary was pregnant from the Holy Spirit.

These scriptures are simple to understand and easily disproves that Joseph had sex with Mary to conceive the Messiah.

4. Job Was Not An Edomite

Fourth dogma is that Job in the book of Job was not an Edomite.

When we read the scriptures, we see a match up of family names given about Job. These are found in the King James Bible, and the Septuagint English version.

When we compare these family names, we see that the family names in the Septuagint and King James bible mention the same Job.

Genesis 36:32-33

32 And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhabah. 33 And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.

When we compare the names above with those in the Septuagint below, we can see the same Job is being spoken of:

Job 42:16-17

16 And Job lived after his affliction a hundred and seventy years: and all the years he lived were two hundred and forty: and Job saw his sons and his sons’ sons, the fourth generation.
17 And Job died, an old man and full of days: and it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up. This man is described in the Syriac book as living in the land of Ausis, on the borders of Idumea and Arabia: and his name before was Jobab; and having taken an Arabian wife, he begot a son whose name was Ennon. And he himself was the son of his father Zare, one of the sons of Esau, and of his mother Bosorrha, so that he was the fifth from Abraam. And these were the kings who reigned in Edom, which country he also ruled over: first, Balac, the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dennaba: but after Balac, Jobab, who is called Job, and after him Asom, who was governor out of the country of Thaeman: and after him Adad, the son of Barad, who destroyed Madiam in the plain of Moab; and the name of his city was Gethaim. And his friends who came to him were Eliphaz, of the children of Esau, king of the Thaemanites, Baldad sovereign the Sauchaeans, Sophar king of the Minaeans.

It shows us clearly that Job that is spoken of in the book of Job was in fact an Edomite, which means he was not a Hebrew Israelite.

He was from the seed of Esau who was Jacob’s twin brother, the forefather of the Israelites, so this doctrine is debunked also and disproved.

When we look at the extended information in the Septuagints Job 42 we see that Jobs Father was called “Zare/Zareh” and his mother “Bosorrha/Bozrah”

Septuagint, Job 42 the names are written Zare and Bosoorrha.

King James bible Genesis 36:33 the names are written Zareh and Bozrah.

The variation in how the names are spelt is due to them being translated into English.

The Septuagint makes it clear that Job’s name before was Jobab, which is the name we see in Genesis 36:33.

5. Sex Is Marriage

The fifth dogma is that sex is marriage.

When we read the scriptures, we see that the act of having sex was the consummation of a marriage.

Tobit 3:7-8

7 On the same day, at Ecbatana in Media, it also happened that Sarah, the daughter of Raguel, was reproached by her father’s maids,
8 because she had been given to seven husbands, and the evil demon Asmodeus had slain each of them before he had been with her as his wife. So the maids said to her, “Do you not know that you strangle your husbands? You already have had seven and have had no benefit from any of them.

As you can see Sarah was married even before she had sex with the 7 husbands that were killed by the demon Asmodeus.

Scriptures don’t confirm that sex alone is marriage anywhere.

This can easily be proven because we see Sarah later marry Tobit where marriage documents were used to cement a marriage.

Tobit 7:12-14

12 So Raguel said, “Take her right now, in accordance with the law. You are her relative, and she is yours. The merciful God will guide you both for the best.”
13 Then he called his daughter Sarah, and taking her by the hand he gave her to Tobias to be his wife, saying, “Here she is; take her according to the law of Moses, and take her with you to your father.” And he blessed them.
14 Next he called his wife Edna, and took a scroll and wrote out the contract; and they set their seals to it.

Without a marriage certificate it would be a problem proving that people were married.

Just as we have marriage certificates today the same was also true back in biblical times.

6. The Physical New Moon Begins A New Calendar Month

Now, the sixth and final dogma is that the new moon determines the months.

When we read the scripture, it shows us that a month which is spoken of in the scriptures, is not referring to the physical new moon.

‘chodesh’ means ‘month‘ Strong’s 2320

‘yareach’ means ‘moon‘ Strong’s 3394

This is important because wherever we see a “new month” mentioned in scriptures, the word Chodesh is used not Yereach.

The months cycles are confirmed in the Book of Enoch 72:8-32

This is a doctrine that is held by both Hebrew Israelites and the Jewish communities.

In the book of Jubilees we’re told that when we start to calculate New Months using the moon this would throw off the times and seasons.

Book Of Jubilees 6:33

33 But if they do neglect and do not observe them according to His commandment, then they will disturb all their seasons, and the years will be dislodged from this (order), [and they will disturb the seasons and the years will be dislodged] and they will neglect their ordinances.

Use of the “New Moons” for “Months” is easily debunked by reading scriptures.

7. Gentiles Can’t Be saved

This is one of the major tenets of being a Black Hebrew Israelite unfortunately.

The claim that gentiles cant be saved. As explained previously Job was an edomite.

Which in the eyes of most Black Hebrews makes him the worst of the worst gentile.

We are told in the the Septuagint Job, that Job will raised up in the last days.

(Septuagint) Job 42:17

17 And Job died, an old man and full of days: and it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up.

Job was clearly a gentile, because he was not an Israelite, but an Edomite.

In Acts 10, we see the baptism of a gentile Cornelius of the Italian band i.e. a European convert.

Peter (A black Hebrew Israelite) is told to pray for him so that he receives the Holy Spirit.

Acts 10:28

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Acts 10:34-35

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Peter address the issue of differences between the Israelite’s and Gentiles not mixing. He then accepts that the Most High accepts anyone that keeps his commandments.

It’s also important to point out that Peter the Israelite prayed for Cornelius, not the other way round.

This is still the order of things today, and Gentiles should not be praying for Israelite’s, it’s not biblical.

Finally in the Book of Revelation. First we see the tribes of Israel named, and then we are told that many other people from other nations are a part of the Kingdom also.

Revelation 7:9

9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

We also find other instances in the scriptures where gentiles were seen as righteous.

The Old Testament also talks about strangers living among Israel back then too. The idea of gentiles being saved, and being part of the Kingdom is not a new concept.

Conclusion

Hopefully this article has given you some insight into some of the beliefs of the black Hebrew Israelite’s.

You can use this article to defend yourself against some of their dogma and misunderstanding in general, using the scriptures presented.

This article was not written to vilify black Hebrew Israelite’s, instead I have presented this information for edification.

It’s important that we read scriptures and get our understanding of the Most High Spirit and in truth.

Shalom and share this with someone that needs it.
