I want to kill this man, John Tucker.
This John Tucker has harmed my family. The police say they cannot prove it is John Tucker, but I know it is, because I saw the eyes, and these were the eyes of John Tucker. Of that I am sure. I know the eyes of John Tucker.
Does anyone know where this man can be found? This John Tucker? He must die for his crimes against my family.
John Tucker, if you are reading this, know that I know it is you who has done these things to my family. I know it is you, so do not say that it is not you. Stop hiding, John Tucker. Come out now to pay for what you have done.
Editor’s Note:
Of course, there is significant uncertainty as to whether or not John Tucker is indeed responsible for any wrongdoing toward this man’s family, given the information included in the letter above. A description of the eyes of the perpetrator would not constitute enough evidence to formally arrest any suspects (though the police are free to informally question anyone who is willing to speak with them). Furthermore, the nature of these “crimes” is unspecified. And based on the fact that murder is not mentioned in the letter, it is highly doubtful that they would warrant the death penalty in this country. As a reader, we are also left to wonder about the mental state of the aggrieved author and the relationship between the author and Mr. Tucker before the incident(s). With so many question marks, some might say that by publishing this letter we ourselves have committed a crime (against the standards of Journalism). John Tucker, if you are reading this, it is me again, and you know what you did, and you must come out and die for these things that you have done.
