movie trailer maker dream or not ?

hi everyone , first of all let me introduce myself a little bit

i'm 20 an international student and i wanna study abroad in america to realize my dream ,to become a movie trailer maker.because it's the birthplace about the film making industry ,especially califoria

so here's the dilemmas

i'm not from a rich family so my friends suggest me to go study in a community school first and then choose and keep studying in one of those remarkable colleges. is this correct and right?

what kind of school and major should i take exactly if i wanna be someone more than a movie trailer maker?

and what's the pay like? could i get a good paid job easily when i finish my school if i study hard and well and be nice all the time?

lots of people told me that it's really hard to get a nice job even someone like u...

There is no such position in the industry as movie trailer maker. What you want to become is a film editor. Why limit yourself to 2 minutes when you can do the whole 120?

To get started, work on every film you can in any position you can. This is one field where a degree won't help you much. Work for free on any student film, indy production, commercial and internet project you can find. You will meet people on their way up that will get you the jobs you want. Not only will you learn more, but you will find out if this is the sort of thing you would like to pursue.

To answer the other questions.. The streets of LA are littered with the broken dreams of film production majors. One thing you learn quickly here is that it's not what you know, but who you know. It's not the sort of degree you get that comes with a gurantee of a good job. If you want that, then i suggest majoring in nursing or engineering.

thank u , it helps a lot, and now i've made up my mind to pursue my dream to be a film editor (so far) and will the major teach me everything about movies and i just need to pay more attention to editing right ?

and here's still a hang-up ,what do u guys think of this major ,this job? u know the red words above really scare me a little bit.it looks like that it ain't about how hard and well i can be .
