Texas Online Preparatory High School Reviews

Texas Online Preparatory School is a safe and respectable option for children. The teachers and classmates are kind and supportive. Although it can be nerve-wracking to be on camera and use a microphone, the school encourages students to use these tools. With a little time and practice, you will become more comfortable. Sometimes there may be technical issues with the Newrow program, but maintenance quickly fixes them. Overall, K-12 Texas Online Preparatory School is a suitable place to learn and prepare for your future.
My overall experience in TOPS has taught me greatly about the importance of independence. I feel it teaches students to not only take accountability but also show great communication skills. I would say the best part is having your schedule ahead of time giving you leverage to complete the work anytime you can. The only downside is the lack of student interaction, which is already hard because it's online. The change I would like to see is being able to communicate with students and have more versatile ways to socialize with my peers.
Lots of classes are offered, including AP, dual credit, and college and career prep (mostly business, medical, and IT related, though others are offered, including forensic science, graphic design, etc.). There are no fine arts classes aside from music and art, and the only foreign language offered is Spanish. Most of the assignments are in the form of multiple choice tests/quizzes, short answer responses, or essays, and there are no group projects or chances to collaborate with classmates outside of live class once (maybe twice) a week (if allowed by the teacher). Assignment due dates are usually very flexible, and live classes are recorded to work around your schedule.
It was a good experience. All of the staff were very helpful, especially since it was online. Sometimes trying to find what I was looking for was difficult, however my teachers, principals, and counselors helped me through each problem. Overall, if it weren’t for how helpful they were, I wouldn’t have been able to keep the grades that I did. I highly recommend going to them!
For an Online school, I think it does very good with giving their students the academics they need, but I feel that they could do a much better job with the social aspect of school. I think that if they incorporated my socialization and easier accessability to clubs, then they online highschool experience would feel much better.
It is a great school to gain experiences and knowledge. It is very friendly and good environment! I really enjoyed the extracurricular classes and clubs.
My experience here at Texas online preparatory has been great. The staff and teachers are all helpful and always answer any questions you have fairly quick. There is a bunch of classes to chose from as well.
My time at TOPS has been invaluable. I have learned so much and learned from amazing professors - many of which have masters or doctoral degrees. I highly recommend sending your student to this program.
The best experience I have had in the school is the classes. My favorite subject in school has always been science (specifically biology), also health classes, and they offer a wide variety of classes regarding those subjects. The teachers are so helpful and great listeners. They give us extra tips on how to stay on top of the classes, how to be organized, and how to really be focus and learn. Also the best experience has been all the resources they offer. They have different pages and links of all the resources, contact guides, graduation information, counselors information. It makes me have an enjoyable and memorable time in High School.
Overall this school has allowed me to express myself more than I was ever able to. Not only that but allowed me to have a flexible schedule with my school life and personal life at home.
Joining TOPS was the best decision I could've made. The ability to express my religion in my essays and in class as well, was the best thing that I've experienced in my education. The teachers are amazing and are very much equipped to give you assistance when your failing the class or failing to understand certain subjects or methods of that subject. Tutorials are set and if you fall behind, you have till a certain lock date to completely catch up. It's very well paced and basically lets you work on your own time. When you suddenly need to travel, there's an unexpected emergency or you have an appointment for something, you don't have to worry about missing class because each class is recorded and can be downloaded. You don't have to worry about not being able to complete the assignments on the day of, and have till the upcoming Monday before the grade is put in as a zero. Even if you turn the assignment in late, you don't get points taken off. In my opinion no change needs to occur.
it is good you can take your time on some stuff before it looks and the teachers are very helpful
I love attending an online school like Texas Online Preparatory High School. It gives me so much flexibility with my schedule, so I’m able to work and be a student at the same time with less stress. The worst part of my school experience is when I went from a straight A student to a student struggling with procrastination and trying to pass at least my core classes around every deadline in middle school. The teachers & staff weren’t as present back then with trying to get me back on my feet or engage me. Although I definitely think that’s changed recently with the newly implemented weekly ZAP sessions and 2 deadlines a semester. I will never forget my 11th grade mathematics teacher that always rooted for me, she’s one of the main reasons I started getting motivated with finding a goal and finishing my work to move towards it. I’m glad they started being more active and addressing the procrastination issue with students this year, instead of letting it fester. I highly recommend this HS
Texas Online Preparatory school is a wonderful school that can accommodate lots of students in any way that they need.
I have had a very good experience with TOPS. I switched over from public school when my grades were low and now I am able to learn the way learning works best for me.
Ive attened tops for about a year and half i defintely have enjoyed my expirence there it is very reliable school with online classes that take up about 2 or 3 hours of your day they do leave assigments daily it may seem like alot but its very simple as long as you pay attention , its a fun experice there are a few down sides if you are a social person you dont really get to have much time to just chat with all the students they do have groups that connect online and students get to talk there is also times where they gather up not many people show but its a very fun social time.
Texas Online Preparatory High School has been an overall excellent school to attend. Work is not too overbearing, but is still challenging. Attendance here rather than an “brick and mortar” highschool as they would put it, is a better option for someone like me who finds it easy to concentrate on work even when at home.
I joined TOPS High School in my 9th grade year as a way to continue my education during COVID. Overall, I have had a positive experience. School starts later and ends earlier here than in most schools, and if a student does everything on schedule, they have the ability to finish coursework weeks to a month earlier than the official end of school date. They offer a good amount of clubs, activities and national organizations to join, and there is a huge emphasis on college and career readiness. However, I am not fond of live class session durations. They are very short and often times end up being review sessions rather than actual interactive classes. Also, I would not recommend coming to TOPS or any online school if a student cannot rely on themselves to log in and complete everything on time. It is very easy to slack off. I believe this school structure most resembles what college education would be like, and not everyone will be ready for this level of independence.
Texas Online Preparatory School was the school I attended to during the pandemic. The teachers are all on deck and ready to help. There is so much support considering the fact that it's an online school. There are so many resources for the students and families.
The teachers and everyone were helpful. Everything was motivational and kids helping to support each other when we needed the help.
