DSU scholarship offers Miss Black USA Talented Teen pageant winners free tuition

DOVER, Del. – A new scholarship will provide female students looking to attend the first state’s only HBCU the chance to earn a degree for free.

Delaware State University will now offer the winner of the The Miss Black USA Talented Teen pageant a full four-year ride to the university.

The pageant operates under the umbrella of the Miss Black USA organization, which is one the oldest and largest providers of scholarships to women of color.

We caught up with current title holder, Jacqueline Means, who says she’s looking forward to the doors of opportunity it opens for future winners.

Means also played an instrumental role in the partnership with DSU. “We really are just striving to always improve our prize package and increase the interest of more girls so we can have more girls participate and spread our message. We want to empower black women to be the best version of themselves,” 2022 Miss Black USA Talented Teen Jacqueline Means said.

Means is currently a rising junior at the University of Delaware who has a knack for all things science.
