What travelers are saying
- swiftmomCape Cod129 contributionsThis is a popular hiking destination in Middletown and convenient to Newport.
There are a couple of flat gravel trails that are easy to navigate. We enjoyed the walk and had terrific views of the coastline and ocean. There are many access points to get a closer look at the rocky shore. We saw people of all ages and abilities (walkers, joggers, etc.) traversing the trails. Since this is a rest stop for migrating birds, you can see some interesting birds along the property.
Don’t miss the visitors center! There is lots of educational and entertaining information on display.Written April 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is no bad time to walk this beach. Last week I was on the beach all by myself and it was awesome. It never gets old. See my pictures.Written December 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RYC88Centreville, VA1,283 contributionsThe staff at the visitors center were very nice and they were extremely helpful in giving us an overview of the park. The hiking was extremely challenging, as the rocky trails are not marked and the 'paths' go over uneven rock and there are lots of drop-offs and sharp, jagged rocks. We really enjoyed the adventure of it, but hope they warn people who might not be up for such strenuous hiking. Children and people with strollers need to know to stick to the level, grassy paths to the ponds. We thought the views were lovely and hoped to see birds, but it wasn't our day and we only saw common varieties we see in our backyard. Still, we did see two deer, and that was fun. It's a great place for a good hike.Written April 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Denise KWoodridge, Illinois, United States523 contributionsMy cousin and I came here for lunch. We were 1 hour early because our previous activity ended earlier than expected. They were unable to seat us until 15 minutes before our reservation because of staffing. So we ordered a glass of wine while we waited. There is a tasting room and patio, in addition to dining rooms. I am bummed because I collect corks from wineries I visit. Most of the bottles are twist tops, with the exception of the ice wine. They didn’t have any corks laying around and I wasn’t about to spend $45 on the ice wine just for the cork. The food was good. I tried the Vidal Blanc and the Great White. I liked the Great White better.Written August 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michelle WGrand Prairie, TX11 contributionsThis has such a diverse offering of things to eat. We ate some and enjoyed every bite right away. We bought a painted clam shell, blueberry bread, a chocolate and an oatmeal cookie.Written October 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephanie DYorktown, VA26 contributionsThis was a very hard place to find but I was glad that I did. The view was nice and the bridge going over the water was a small reminder of the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris........with engraved locks of loved ones attached to the wire. I met a nice young man who placed the lock of two friends he last that year. It is not marked but is worth the drive.Written September 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Elaine CPortland, ME37 contributionsA very pleasant stop to see a unique windmill. Given that it was off-season, we didn't get to speak to anyone or learn a whole lot about the history, but visiting the farm is still worth it to just take a gander a the windmill. It is a wonderful spot for a picnic--and spring is a great time to see the wall of forsythia in bloom that lines the edge of the parking lot. In the summer, the gardens will be at their best, not doubt.Written April 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gray GNorfolk, VA231 contributionsThis is a lovely and less crowded beach. It isn’t huge, but it is way calmer than first and second beaches. It is also less crowded. We enjoyed walking and relaxing at this idyllic location.Written November 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mary RNorth East, PA4 contributionsWe enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Whitehall. The grounds include a charming herb garden and beautiful old trees. The interior of the house is furnished with period pieces and is tastefully decorated. We felt transported back to the colonial days and learned a lot from out tour guide about the owner of the home, Bishop Berkeley. This museum house is a true gem and we will definitely visit again!!Written August 9, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Margot C2 contributionsIt was a unique experience, we enjoyed the goats, hearing the history of the farm and being outside on the property.
A few recommendations to improve the experience. The goats were very strong and pulled hard to keep up with the herd so it was 1.5 hours of having to muscle them. If I were to do it again I would get the mini goat or share one with a friend to trade off. Smaller group would have been better so you could hear the speaker over kids. Kids would have plenty of running space and 20minutes is all it takesWritten April 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
