DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I had them for a year. They cancelled my policy without notifying me. They said they cancelled because they weren’t receiving payment even though it was automatic withdrawal on their end. I got slapped with a $500 bill by the dentist because I didn’t know they cancelled my plan. Called to resolve the issue and they said there was nothing they could do about it. Just a money hungry corporation that has poor customer care. I highly advise against buying any plan with them.

MetLife Dental is by far one of the worst insurance companies for dental services. Case in point; after I received dental services by my periodontist, the claim was submitted to both MetLife Dental (primary coverage) and another big dental carrier (secondary plan from my husband). MetLife paid $0 and my husband's plan paid 30% of total billed charges. MetLife said I had other cheaper options, and should have gone with those options (which they would have paid). To insinuate that I should NOT follow my dentist's recommendation but do something different is outrageous and out of scope for an INSURANCE COMPANY. I have appealed MetLife's denial so many times, I've lost count but I will continue.

Useless even for dental cleaning, that is covered. Dentist sent in invoice twice..nothing. Then they asked for SS number, never before have they done that. Call back a second time and they said they were running about two weeks behind on payments. I would never recommend anybody buying insurance from these people.

I used to be in love with METLIFE Dental Insurance until I had to file a significant claim! They are great when it comes to paying for cleanings, but try and get a legitimate implant claim through their system...good luck. For over 4 months I have been contacting them with no resolution. They keep kicking it down the road. Their foreign customer service is hard to deal with and can only read back the notes on the EOB. When I asked to speak to a Dentist, I got nowhere. I submitted x-rays over and over, my dentist wrote letters and I filed written appeals (via fax no less) and received nothing, nada, zip. Totally awful customer service if you have a significant claim. It is all about the $$$$ with MET Life. Stay away if you can. Contact your HR representative and tell them to stay away!

I am almost done with Invisalign. I get a new job so I switch to Delta Dental. I paid 3,000, the total amount, upfront. MetLife only has to pay quarterly.. and if you leave, they don’t have to finish paying for it. It’s a scam, they spread out the payments and hope you leave before they have to finish paying.

This is the worst insurance on planet earth. They should be ashamed of themselves. Not paying for my dental when they are expensive to have! Stay away if possible. I’ve never had so many issues with an insurance ever!

This place is not only very bureaucratic, but it does not provide good coverage. They are currently denying me a benefit, and I am having a very hard time getting someone competent on the phone. Currently on hold.

The most useless dental plan out there. I have the top tier ppo through my employer. Between me and my employer they get $5000yr in premiums. I need a bridge with crowns, they send back the pretreatment estimate saying they will cover $2117.50 (barely a drop towards the full $10,840) but you think it is better than nothing. Then I open the estimate and they actually will not cover anything my dentist submitted. They will cover a partial denture metal cast. PRISON INMATES get better options! A METAL DENTURE?! This is not the 1940s! So I pay 100% out of pocket and they make $5000 a year. You are better off not having insurance at all.

I'd quite literally rather deal with ISIS than Metlife Dental. Every time you call, you get some ditzy Asian who has no information whatsoever to provide. They cap your claim(s) based on an "allowed amount" which Metlife cannot provide any information as to how they calculate this percentage. Avoid at all costs.

Three years in a row I have asked to pay in full while at the dentist. Every time they said this will cover what insurance won't. Once again I will be fighting collections because MetLife refuses to do their part. Why are we paying for insurance, if they are not doing their part? This company needs to be shut down, as they continue to steal money, and lie to their consumer!! It's embarrassing to me, my family, the small dentist businesses in these small towns that have to force their hand on single families, because they can't hold their end of the business. I will be talking to corporate about our company keeping them. I'm sure they make millions considering we are owned by a huge businessman and company. Very, very disappointed.
