The 63rd edition of Miss World was held on 28th September 2013 in Indonesia where Megan Young, from Philippines, created history by becoming the first ever delegate from her country to become Miss World. Megan’s win also made the Philippines the third country to win all of the Big4 International Beauty Pageants. Miss World Philippines 2013 Megan Young, then 23-year-old, created history by winning Miss World 2013 and forever imprinted her name in the heart of Philippines.
Miss World 2013 was the biggest milestone she achieved for herself and her country; during the preliminaries she also won the ‘Top Model’ competition placed second in the "People's Champion," placed fourth in the "Multimedia Challenge" and fifth in the "Beach Beauty" contest. She was definitely the people’s favourite right from the beginning of the competition.
Born in Virginia, Megan moved to Philippines at the age of ten. In 2011, she started learning filmmaking at De La Salle- College of Saint Benilde and has been studying it ever since. As early as at 14, Megan’s career in the showbiz began with her bagging her first acting job in Love to Love Presents: Love Ko Urok followed by her role of Anna in Asian Treasures. After her stint at GMA, Megan shifted to ABS-CNN, the rival network only to shift back to GMA in 2015.
As to her Beauty With A Purpose, Megan did an unbelievable work with the Philippine Red Cross by helping in collecting donations for the victims of typhoon. Young went to major cities of USA and even appealed to the citizens through the morning show – Good Morning America. Megan has had a very successful career since her crowning; she has starred in more than 40 television series and has done 12 movies since 2005.
Megan is probably one of the most acclaimed Miss World title holders of all times. With her charismatic personality and down to earth character, Megan has definitely won millions of hearts all over the world, including ours!
