Here's a rundown of what is closed in honor of the July 4 holiday in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Fourth of July holiday is days away, which means many town services and offices will take a holiday break.

This year, Independence Day falls on Sunday. Patch has compiled a list of closings you can expect in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.

Most all Mecklenburg County offices will be closed Monday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day, although some essential facilities or services will remain open or have modified hours.

Expect the following government offices to be closed:

  • Federal offices and courts — Closed Monday, July 5
  • State offices — Closed Monday, July 5
  • Banks — Closed Monday, July 5
  • U.S. Postal Service — all post offices will be Monday, July 5; no deliveries
  • City of Charlotte offices — Closed Monday, July 5
  • Charlotte trash pickup — normal schedule Friday, July 3 and the week of July 5.
  • Public Libraries — Closed Monday, July 5
  • County Department of Social Services — Closed Monday, July 5
  • County Tax Office — Closed Monday, July 5
  • County Elections Office — Closed Monday, July 5
  • County Register of Deeds Office — Closed Monday, July 5
  • County Land Use Office— Closed Monday, July 5
  • County Environmental Services Agency offices — Closed Monday, July 5
  • County Health Department — Closed Monday, July 5
  • County Solid Waste Offices & Full-Service Drop-Off Centers will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021. All Full-Service Drop-Off Centers will re-open on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.  
  • All traditional recreation centers will be closed on Sunday, July 4. Tyvola Senior Center will be closed on Monday, July 5.
  • Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will be open Saturday, July 3, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Closed Sunday, July 4, open Monday, July 5, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
  • Nature centers are closed on July 4 and July 5. Nature preserves are open
