MATT TILLER | Hello. I write, produce and develop comedy and comedy drama for television and film. And I write and perform funny (and sometimes heart-wrenchingly poignant) songs. Have a read of my Foot in the Door blog where I remember some of the stupid things I’ve done in my media career; you might find it useful. Thanks for having a look.

Reviews for The Lion Who Never Roared

“Beautifully written and strikingly illustrated” –When Saturday Comes

“Too many stories … have disappeared from our collective consciousness. We should be grateful to Tiller for reclaiming this one.” –Times Literary Supplement

A beautifully written and fitting tribute for a unfairly overlooked legend.” –Josh Widdicombe

“An evocative and gripping portrait of a remarkable football pioneer.” –Debbie Hewitt, Chair of the FA

“Moving, sad and uplifting. Everyone should know the legend of Jack Leslie.” –Matt Barlow, Daily Mail

I’ve personally curated a hand crafted, artisan playlist of my best songs for your delectation on Spotify…

Michael Spicer: No Room

The new ten part comedy series I’m producing is now on BBC Sounds. Two episodes drop each week and there are videos to accompany each one. Here’s the first…

And the second…

It’s a brilliant show all stitched together with music and soundscapes by talented composer Augustin Bousfield.

Do listen and share!

Michael Spicer: No Room – Coming Soon

The series I am producing for BBC Sounds launches on Weds 24th April…

It is a great series entirely written and performed by Michael and full of clever, insightful sketches and character-led, satirical comedy. All the stuff you would expect if you have seen his output on social media, and if you haven’t then you should.

The show is weaved together with original music by Augustin Bousfield and is a beautiful listen.

Michael Spicer: No Room – Launches 24th April

Tillervision news! My production company is making a show for the BBC…

It’s a privilege to bring my long-time collaborator Michael Spicer and his excellent satirical comedy to BBC Sounds and Radio 4 in a new show. Michael Spicer: No Room.

The series launches on 24th April and is already sounding excellent. It’s Michael, so it will be funny and it also features fantastic original music and sound design by Augustin Bousfield. I’ve worked with him many times, but it’s been a while… the music is ace and it’s great to have him on board.

Here’s the BBC Press Release: https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2024/michael-spicer-no-room-radio-4-bbc-sounds/

Here’s a promo video from the man himself:

The Lion Who Never Roared

My biography of the footballing pioneer, Jack Leslie, is out on Monday and I can’t wait for people to read it. Signed copies are available HERE.

The Lion Who Never Roared has been a true labour of love. It all began with the campaign to fundraise for a statue that I founded with my friend and fellow Plymouth Argyle fan, Greg Foxsmith. Now I’ve had the honour and privilege of writing this book. Here’s a trailer…

Please do have a look at the work of The Jack Leslie Campaign and I hope you buy, read and enjoy the book!

Michael Spicer: Before Next Door Series Two – 15th Dec 11pm BBC Radio 4

The lovely series I produce with my good friend, Michael Spicer, starts tomorrow. It’s a real joy to make – funny, warm and original – so do listen. If you haven’t heard series one then it is still on BBC Sounds, so click this underlined bit to find it and listen.

Series Two starts 15th December at 11pm with episode one featuring a guest appearance by Sanjeev Bhaskar alongside regulars, Ellie Taylor, Joanna Neary, Jamie Borthwick, Alison Ward, Greig Johnson, Jason Forbes and Peter Curran.

Michael’s wife Roberta also makes a cameo, even though Ellie plays her in the show. It will all make sense. If you listen.

The Ballad of Jack Leslie – OUT NOW

This song was written soon after I heard the story of Jack Leslie, who should have been England’s first black footballer in 1925. It lead to me setting up The Jack Leslie Campaign with my friend and fan Greg Foxsmith. We want to build a statue of Jack and tell his story which has, for many terrible reasons, become very timely.

We are crowdfunding and doing great but need your help to hit our £100K target so please do check it out and donate if you can.

All proceeds from the song will go to the campaign so please buy it, share it, request it on your favourite radio shows etc…. !

The Ballad of Jack Leslie is out now on all digital platforms but you can buy it and pay more if you like (all for the campaign!) here…

On Spotify…..

And it’s on iTunes

Thanks for listening.
