The Batman director Matt Reeves revealed the stunning first trailer for the Robert Pattinson film at DC FanDome, instantly wowing fans across the world.

After months of speculation and waiting, we finally know what Matt Reeves’ dark vision for Gotham City and the Caped Crusader looks like – and we’re stunned. The trailer instantly shows off that Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne is in his second year of being Batman as he works with the Gotham City Police Department to hunt down a ruthless killer. It’s the mystery element of the story which really gives the footage a completely different atmosphere to the Batman films we’ve all seen before. And with this bleak new Gotham comes an equally moody Bruce Wayne.

While there’s some impressive footage of Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman (her balaclava makes Selina Kyle’s ears!) the focus is absolutely on the Dark Knight himself. From his scrappy, brutal fighting style to his brooding in the Bat-Cave – the writers have definitely strived to deliver a fresh new take on the hero. We also finally discovered what the Batmobile’s engine sounds like after Jeffrey Wright previously teased it, and oh boy, it’s glorious. While we don’t see much from Paul Dano’s Riddler, the intimidating narration over all the footage is undeniably intense – immediately setting the tone for the Robert Pattinson film. Take a look at the first trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman below.

What did you think of the first trailer for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman? Do you like the direction its going in? What do you make of the Caped Crusader in action? What do you think about the creepy direction for the main villain? Sound-off in the comments section!

Plot details for The Batman are being kept under lock and key, but we know that the project will revolve around Robert Pattinson as a younger Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector. The Batman will also feature the hero making use of his detective skills more than what we’ve seen before in previous iterations of the character. It is also expected to be the first installment to a new trilogy starring Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news regarding Matt Reeves, Robert Pattinson and The Batman universe, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content.
