Marymount Manhattan College Reviews
Rating 3.33 out of 5 783 reviews
Marymount Manhattan College mostly focuses on their musical theater and dance programs. Other than that, every other program they have is poorly taught. As a fashion marketing major, none of my classes have been academically challenging. Most of the classes I have to take are business classes, with only 2-3 required fashion classes. As an international student, you have very few opportunities at this school. You can only take one online class per semester, however most of my mandatory classes are online, so I can't take many. The international student service is very poorly staffed. In almost all instances, I never receive replies from them about my emails. There is a lack of diversity at this school. The residence hall for the freshmen is not a good place. The wifi does not work, and many things, such as the AC, are broken. Also, there have been many instances where their email gets hacked, and students receive spam emails.
Unless you are an arts major such as dancing, acting, or musical theatre, I would choose any other college for academics. Don't go if you don't want to go to a woke school that will have students patronize you for having anything other than leftist viewpoints. Claims to be an "accepting, and diverse" school but you cannot say anything slightly conservative or other their policy or viewpoint. No one challenges or questions each other and teachers have been fired for using the wrong pronouns. Only go unless you want your freedom of speech to be taken away! Only middle class white women go here, with the exception of a few guys.
For Musical Theater and Dance Majors, it is a great place to find a community and do what you love. For any other major, this is not the best school because it proirtizes the other majors. It is very difficult to meet people outside of your major because it is a bit cliquey. If you want to go to a school in nyc, there are other schools that would fit different majors. MMC is also known for being "all inclusive." The school portrays themselves as welcoming to anyone and everyone, however this is never the case. The school was founded with values that have not stayed in place and now it has lost its character. Overall, it may be a different experience for a dance or theater major, but this is common amongst other majors.
