C'est dans les années 1570 que la fraise connaît les métamorphoses les plus impressionnantes en volume. Dans la première moitié de la décennie, elle s'étend verticalement ; les godrons continuent de s'élever en hauteur, cachant finalement le cou dans toute sa longueur. Au milieu de la décennie, les plis apparaissent en éventail en-dessous de la tête, formant comme un énorme bloc.
