WALTON, MARY A.
Miss Mary A. Walton, sister of the late Reuben Walton, of this place, died at the residence of her nephew, Moses Walton, Esq. on last Sunday morning, aged 72 years and 3 months. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in the year 1829, at New Market. In 1847, when her father died, she and her widowed mother removed to Woodstock. For fifty years, she was a consistent, exemplary member of the church. Her last sickness was not marked by suffering or pain. A gradual increase of debility, and a general yielding of vitality seemed to be the only evidence of disease. It was, in its strict sense, a natural death. After a long life, she passed away as a child gently yielding to the embraces of a refreshing slumber. [Source: Shenandoah herald (Woodstock, Va.) May 07, 1879. Sub. By Brenda Becker]
