Amy Dean is in her 22nd year at Ohio University, and her fifth year as Deputy Athletic Director. In 2001, she was promoted to associate athletic director for business and administration. In 2004, she was elevated to senior associate athletic director for administration and then in 2011 was promoted to the role of executive senior associate athletic director. In August 2016, Dean was elevated to Deputy Athletic Director. 

In her current capacity, Dean serves as the primary supervisor of the soccer, field hockey, men's and women's cross country, volleyball, wrestling, women's basketball, track & field, baseball and softball programs. Dean also oversees sports medicine, strength and conditioning, compliance, NCAA student-athlete developments eligibility, facilities and event operations and equipment. She is also responsible for the personnel matters in the athletic department and serves as its senior women's administrator.

As a part of her sport supervisory responsibilities, Amy plays an important role in the staffing and scheduling process. She is responsible for the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of head coaches while also being responsible for the supervision of personnel, budget, facilities, and issues related to the well-being of the student-athlete.

Amy was involved in the development of the following policies and procedures which currently play an important role in day-to-day operation of the athletic department: Ohio's gender equity plan, Ohio's strategic plan, Ohio's vision and mission statements, Ohio's student-athlete code of conduct, and Ohio's facilities master plan.

Prior to joining Ohio University, Dean worked for the U.S. Army as the installation sports director at Fort Bliss in Texas. In that role, she managed a comprehensive sports program for an installation of more than 17,000 soldiers, DOD retirees, and their families.

She also has worked for the U.S. Army at Fort Benning in Georgia as the facility manager, which made her responsible for the daily operation of the Officer's Club Family Fitness Center. Other work experiences include event coordinator at the Indiana Convention Center and Hoosier Dome and assistant general manager for the Indianapolis Checkers of the International Hockey League.

Dean earned a bachelor's degree from Miami University in 1985 and a master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University in 1986.

A native of Springfield, Ohio, Dean is the daughter of former Wittenberg University athletics director and football coach Bob Rosencrans. Dean and her husband, Mark, reside in Athens. The couple has two children, Megan and Kyle.
