The 2023-24 season marked Justine Raterman's fifth season at Marquette University, after joining head coach Megan Duffy's staff in April of 2019. Raterman was promoted to Associate Head Coach before the 2023-24 campaign.

Raterman serves as recruiting coordinator for the Golden Eagles and excels in post player development.

Marquette made history during the 2023-24 season with the best start in program history at 12-0. The Golden Eagles were one of 10 teams in the country to go undefeated in nonconference, including winning the Fort Meyers Tip-Off over Thanksgiving weekend. MU earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament with 23 wins and finished tied for third at 11-7 in the BIG EAST with St. John's and Villanova.

Raterman was instrumental in the developmen of Liza Karlen, who earned unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team honors. Karlen averaged career-bests in points (17.7) and rebounds (7.9) with 10 double-doubles. Karlen improved from 11.4 points per game her junior season to 17.7 her senior year, and finished the season with 240 field goals, the third-most field goals made in a single season in program history.

MU shot 50-percent-or-better from the floor 11 times, finishing top 40 in the nation in FG percentage (44.8 percent), and outrebounded its opponent in 24-of-32 games with a +5.0 rebounding margin, good for second in the BIG EAST.

In 2022-23, Raterman played a vital role in the development of First Team All-BIG EAST forward Chloe Marotta, who made an enormous statistical leap in her fifth and final season at Marquette ot become one of the league's premiere front court players. Marotta climbed from 6.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in 2021-22 to 14.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game the following season, ranking 11th and 5th in the BIG EAST in those respective categories.

As a team, the Golden Eagles ranked third in the BIG EAST with an outstanding +3.9 rebound margin, pulling down 38.4 rebounds per contest. They also proved to be one of the nation's top defenses, holding opponents to a league-best 58.2 points per game and allowing them to shoot just 38.9 percent from the field.

Raterman's post players continued to take their games to another level in 2021-22, highlighted by Lauren Van Kleunen's nod to the All-BIG EAST First Team. LVK had the best season of her career, leading the squad in scoring at 13.7 points per game, while also averaging 6.4 rebounds per contest and shooting a team-best 47.8 percent (197-of-412) from the floor. She also helped Liza Karlin to make substantial improvement in her sophomore season. The forward jumped from averaging 4.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 2020-21 to 10.2 points and 7.2 boards per contest in 2021-22.

In 2020-21, forward Lauren Van Kleunen earned Second Team All-BIG EAST and All-Tournament Team honors after a stellar fourth season in the Blue & Gold. LVK ranked second on the team in scoring (13.0), third in rebounding (5.9) and second in steals (1.0), blocked shots (0.5) and field goal percentage (.523). She reached double figures in scoring a team-best 18 times, including seven of MU's last eight games. Sophomore forward Camryn Taylor took her game up a notch as well, earning All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention after scoring 12.0 points per game and grabbing a team-high 6.9 rebounds a night on 51.6 percent shooting from the floor. She posted 16 double figure scoring outings and three double-doubles, including a 20-point, 11-rebound game on Feb. 24 at No. 24/23 DePaul. The super sophomore ranked in the top 10 in the BIG EAST in rebounding (sixth), offensive rebounding (third) and field goal percentage (seventh).

In her first season at Marquette Raterman helped Camryn Taylor earn a spot on the BIG EAST All-Freshman team after averaging 9.6 points per game in BIG EAST play, which was fourth in scoring among all of the league’s freshmen. Taylor also shot a stellar 53.3 percent mark from the floor. Altia Anderson more than doubled her scoring output from her first three seasons combined and tripled her rebounding average, ranking in the top-10 in the conference, while Lauren Van Kleunen improved her scoring from 4.5 points per game in 2018-19 to 11.9 points per contest last season and connected on 51.3 percent from the field. The Golden Eagles led the BIG EAST in rebounding, grabbing 40.6 boards per night and played stingy defense, allowing just 60.9 points per game from opponents.

Before coming to Marquette, Raterman served as an assistant coach for the Miami Redhawks in the 2018-2019 campaign. She was on the sidelines as Miami posted back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since the 1980’s, earning two WNIT berths along the way. The Redhawks reached the MAC Tournament semifinals in two consecutive years, while a 44-20 record over the span was the winningest record in the MAC. In her first year as an assistant coach for Miami, Raterman saw a trio of players selected to the All-MAC squad. With the RedHawks, Justine’s responsibilities included guard and post player development, recruiting, scouting, and liaison with academic services.

As Director of Video Operations for Miami Raterman was responsible for all video-related tasks including practice, game, scout, and special event videos. In addition to managing film and video tasks, she assisted with in-office recruiting, helped organize special event games including Goals for Life, Love.Honor.Care, Alumnae Weekend, and Family STEM Night. She also helped with social media and served as the marketing and ticketing liaison.

A former standout player at Dayton, Raterman graduated in 2012 after leading Dayton to three NCAA Tournament berths and one WNIT appearance. She is the Flyers' second all-time leading scorer and all time-time leading rebounder of the modern era with 1,832 points and 915 rebounds. While at Dayton, Raterman was a four-time All-Atlantic 10 selection, the 2009 Rookie of the Year and the 2012 A-10 Tournament Most Outstanding Performer. She was named a Senior CLASS First-Team All-American in 2012 for her excellence on the court, in the classroom and in the community.

Raterman graduated from Dayton in 2012 as a double major, earning bachelor's degrees in mathematics and in science and education and allied studies. In the winter of 2019, Justine got inducted into the University of Dayton athletics hall of fame.

Before arriving at Miami, Raterman spent the previous three years as an operations research analyst at Booz Allen Hamilton where she worked at the Air Force Research Laboratory as part of the modeling, simulation and analysis team. She helped create files that formed tools that parse, organize and visualize large data sets so clients were better able to use the data.
