Bill Murray has a big brood, sharing a total of six sons with his ex-wives, Margaret Kelly and Jennifer Butler.
The “Ghostbusters” star welcomed Homer and Luke while married to Kelly from 1981 to 1996.
Murray wed Butler in 1997, with the costume designer giving birth to Caleb, Jackson, Cooper and Lincoln before their 2008 divorce. (Butler died in 2021.)
The actor, who sparked romance rumors with “Milkshake” singer Kelis in 2023, has given rare insight into his parenting tactics over the years.
“People only talk about what a joyous experience it is, but there is terror,” he told Rolling Stone in 2003 of becoming a dad. “Your life, as you know it, is over … and something completely new starts.”

Homer Murray
Bill became a father in March 1982. His eldest son, Homer, has not followed in his Hollywood footsteps.
Instead, Homer became a chef and restaurateur in New York City, opening 21 Greenpoint in 2016.
While tending bar at the celebration, Bill gave a toast praising his son for “not continu[ing] in the family business” and pursuing “the joy of the family — to have a drink, to have a meal and have friends together.”
Luke Murray
Bill and Kelly welcomed baby No. 2 in April 1985, a son named Luke who now works as the University of Connecticut’s men’s basketball team’s coach.
The “French Dispatch” star has cheered on his child over the years, making headlines in April 2023 for his March Madness appearance.

Luke is a married man, wedding Kara Cassidy in September 2015. The couple are the parents of three kids.
Caleb Murray
Caleb, whose parents met on the set of “Scrooged,” was born in January 1993.
Bill has kept his and Butler’s children out of the spotlight over the years, but Caleb was arrested during a Black Lives Matter protest in Vineyard Haven, Mass., in June 2020.
The Emmy winner did not address his son’s legal troubles at the time.
Jackson Murray
Caleb became a big brother in October 1995 when Butler gave birth to Jackson.
Similarly, not much is known about Jackson besides reports that he is a Clemson University graduate.
Although Jackson used to have an Instagram account featuring photos with girlfriend, marine biologist Elena Mpougas, his social media account is now private.
Cooper Murray
In January 1997, Bill’s fifth child was born — and his son Cooper is the only one to also show an interest in acting.
Not only did Cooper play Indian Chief Khahki Scout in “Moonrise Kingdom” in 2012, but he appeared in four episodes of “The Now” nearly one decade later.
Notably, the actor teamed up with Bill for both of those projects.
Lincoln Murray
Baby No. 6, son Lincoln, joined Bill’s family in May 2005. He has also maintained his privacy.
Three years after Lincoln’s arrival, Butler filed for divorce from Bill. When it was finalized in June 2008, she was awarded primary custody of Luke, Caleb, Cooper and Lincoln.
Butler died in January 2021, with the subsequent obituary referring to her as an “extraordinarily kind and generous person, a woman of principle, an absolute spitfire and a fiercely loyal mother.”
