The restaurant is very nice inside with views of downtown. They have 3 different menus and lots of options. We got the crab puffs as an appetizer and it came out less then 5 minutes. It was good but the pastry was sweet tasting. My...mom got eggplant Parmesan and didn’t like the eggplant because it was Chinese eggplant and chewy. She loved the Alfredo noodles. My general Tso chicken was just ok. I asked for it hot and it was very mild and sweet. The chicken was kind of stringy and dry. Overall it was just ok. It’s more of a Chinese place then a global restaurant. The service was good. I’m not sure if I’ll returnMore

We have been enjoying Marco Polo since they were a tiny place downtown. Having lived around the world, I know the food you try to compare to someplace else will not always get a good review. Some of the 1 star reviews were just plain...mean. You stop and eat there once, decide, without seeing the kitchen, that the menu has too much to choose from, therefore the food will suck. Oh contrare, mon ami, The food at Marco Polo is healthy and good. I lived in China, don't compare it to Chinese food, most food in "Chinese" restaurants would never be found in China. Sweet & Sour chicken tastes only as good as the sauce the restaurant uses, so to judge a place by one dish is letting people who read your review down. Perhaps you just want a lot of points? I want a good, realistic review. This restaurant offers a large selection of dishes, as it services a large population of lunchtime eaters downtown. We appreciate the variety, and have nver been disappointed in our choices. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable of that large menu, and we enjoy eating there. My favorite, another unheard of dish is China, Gen. Tso's. Served with brown rice. Large chuncks of battered and friend chicken in a seriously delicious slightly spicy sauce... oh yes. It is the best ever. The Singapore Noodles are also a good choice.More

This is one of our favourite places to eat. Always good food and great service. Parking on the street is metered but the Pringle Park top floor is free for customers. My husband always has chicken with asparagus, I try different entrees and have always...been happy with my choices.More

Three of us dined for lunch at Marco Polo Global. The cauliflower rice dishes were recommended. Adding chicken and shrimp really highlighted the dish. The Mongolian beef dish was well prepared. Very good service

The food was overcooked and mediocre. I should have known that the very large menu was a bad sign. Who can do dozens of great dishes? Not many restaurants that I know of. Most of the great one's focus on a dozen or two recipes....We have a lot of experience with great restaurants around the country and here in Salem, and this is not one of them.More

My husband and I were commenting that every time we go to Marco Polo Global restaurant, the food is consistently great and the service wonderful. There are not many places where the food is so good that it makes fantastic leftovers, but Marco Polo global...restaurant is one of them. The meal size is substantial so often I have some to take home. They have excellent red brown hearty rice as an option in addition to the white rice, and I often order in extra side of that to take home with the leftovers. The prices are quite reasonable for the quality. They have tables that are in a quieter space in the bar, and they also have a room for banquets. I've never had a bad experience with service or food there aunt I've been going there on an off for 20 years. It's family owned and often the owners are there working and checking in with customers. One of the best restaurants in Salem.More

Had to go to Salem for a Doctor's appt and decided to eat here before heading home based on the Tripadvisor ratings. I must say there were definitely pros and cons, but for us it came to just average overall. We ordered a Potstickers appetizer...and my wife had the warm rice salad based on the waitress recommendation, while I decided on the eggplant parmigiana. It was a bit of a brisk day so we also ordered hot tea and I asked for hot and sour soup. The atmoshphere and decor are quite nice and inviting and looking out the window from our booth was a very nice scene of a little park with a fountain, so it was a nice place to be. The soup and potstickers were both quite good, in fact I commented that the potstickers may be the best I ever had. It went a little downhill from there. My wife's warm rice salad came, and the rice was cold. She sent it back to be warmed up. Meanwhile, my eggplant parmigiana came and I was very disappointed to find that there were 3 meager slices of eggplant with only a tablespoon of marinara sauce on each slice sitting atop fettucine alfredo and a small dash of parmesan cheese on top. The whole reason I ordered the dish was because I had not had anything with a good marinara sauce for some time and was expecting a healthy serving of marinara, and some cheese. What I got was a splash of marinara and a lot of alfredo sauce. So my takeaway was that if you are going to eat here, you may want to stick with the asian dishes. We would probably give it a try again with this understanding.More

To night we had one of the best meals of our trip to the west coast. I ordered the Happy Family, with barbeque pork, shrimp, chicken and beef. The best!!! My husband ordered the Sicilian Salmon , he loved it. We are just sorry that...this great restaurant is not near our hometown. Don't miss this Restaurant if you are in Salem, Oregon.More

Friendly and helpful staff, food is nicely cooked and presented. All at reasonable prices. The decor could do with an upgrade but all in all, worth a visit.

My wise father taught me two important truths about how to find a good restaurant-- he lived before the days of Tripadvisor. First, he told me to check the parking lot-- if a critical mass of people are in the restaurant, he said, it's likely...due to the food. The second tip he passed on was to inspect the menu. "Never trust a chef who tries to do too many things. That cook will probably do nothing exceptionally well." Wish I could take my dad to Marco Polo. No parking lot. Four or Five DIFFERENT menus, pages long, with more entree options that half a dozen other (mediocre) restaurants combined. Here's the thing, if you are a fan of Chinese food, if you love Vietnamese food, if you are gluten free, if you are a vegetarian, if you crave Italian, or if you just want a simple "American" meal, this is the place. It defies logic, but Marco Polo does everything FRESH, quickly served, hot, and delicious. You can count on it. Four stars for food quality equals five stars for amazing productivity!More

Spent one evening in Salem on a roadtrip. Searched online for a gluten-free restaurant and Marco Polo Global came up. We decided to give it a try. We actually ate in the lounge, very nice decor, quick and excellent service. We both ordered off the...extensive gluten-free menu so we could share. (There were THREE other non-gluten free menus from which I could have chosen.) Our Chinese cuisine selections Mongolian beef and Wide noodles with chicken) were superb. Prices were very reasonable for the quantity, and the sticky brown rice was unique and very nutty in flavor. All in all, a delightful experience and a restaurant we'd definitely choose again.More

Italian, Mexican and Asian and vegetarian. Lots of huge menus. Great food every time. The general Tso's tofu with broccoli is my favorite. This has many great options. My carnivore friends also enjoy it as well. Recommended.

One of the top choices for our family celebrations is the Marco Polo Restaurant in Salem. Not only do they have a huge variety of vegetarian and other options, but also cater for those with Gluten Free needs. Our group of 19 was given a...separate room where we were allowed to bring our own celebration Birthday cake. Apart from the wonderful menu, they also have a wide choice of rice, from white to wild, brown to mixtures. Every visit is a pleasure and everyone is sure to find something to please. Family Style dining provides many options to taste and share. Remember parking is available behind the restaurant, so don't be discouraged if the busy main road slots are already taken. You will not be disappointed when you choose to eat here.More
