We chose to have a drink at the bar before dinner. The bartender was friendly and the drinks were perfectly made. I was so excited to see an octopus appetizer on the menu. Sadly, it turned out to be an arugula salad with a sprinkling...of flavorless small pieces of octopus (a $16 salad!). The veal parm was tender and offered a generous portion. However, it was bland and short on mozzarella cheese. Note that we have had veal parm in many restaurants; this left us disappointed. One in our party had the spicy tomato soup and enjoyed it. One had veal marsala and enjoyed that as well. The tiramisu had a wonderful flavor, but it was a bit soggy. They had the nerve to charge $2.50 extra to have penne pasta instead of spaghetti. Salad with a meal costs $3 extra as well. This experience was not what we were expecting.More

The menu was varied, the meals were delicious and generous with seafood, far more than most restaurants. Staff were warm, pleasant and efficient. It was quite unexpected for the prices were very reasonable and the dinner was excellent for all 4 of us. I enjoy...all Italian food but this was ultimate. and one of the best in all aspects! Do not miss it!,More

Was looking for a good place to eat and a friend asked had I been to Marco Polo's which I had not so I went. Well what a great surprise and in my back yard. I am new to the area and I am finding...my way around. The waitress Tekla was very sweet and very informative when it came to the menu. The food was amazing and plentiful. Restaurant is very nice and romantic great place for a date. If you are in the area stop in your taste buds will love you for it Joe C.More

On 12/31/19, I had once of the worst dining experiences of my while eating dinner at Marco Polo at approximately 7:30 pm. It was particularly unpleasant because my wife was reaching looking forward to the dinner, and it was her first choice of 3 options...I offered. I should also note that I have been to Marco Polo for well over 20 years, going back to Chef Lo. Specifically; the service was beyond awful and I am being generous on this point. After waiting about 20 minutes the server finally came over and said do you know your complete order? In other words, she wanted the complete order at one time. which I unfortunately I provided. The drinks, appetizers, and the main course. The menu was limited due to the holiday which although not pleasant it wasn’t surprising on new years eve. I chose the prime rib and this is where the fun started. 1. Didn’t ask how I wanted it cooked 2. Arrived cold or barely warm, which they were cooking ahead, and they just threw it on a plate. But I save the best for last, she said to me and I quote, “we have run out of steak knives so do the best you can!” I think I didn’t say anything because my wife and I were shocked! I cut the prime rib with the bread knife, which I am grateful at least they provided that! This is so unacceptable that it is beyond comprehension. She never came back to ask how everything is, never asked is there you need, just came back near the end to ask if we wanted dessert. Oh, by the way, the beer was so warm I had to put ice in it. I don’t know what happened to this place but after over 20 years, we are done. There are too many other establishments in the area, especially in Jenkintown to have to put up with service and food this bad. To management, good luck to you I think you need it.More

I like coming a bit early (Not early bird anything) but pleasantly sedate. Time to review the menu and take in the surroundings. Looking over the menu and comparing many items to other restaurants, I decided to try the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes..Yes, minimum filler...and loaded with crab, along with asparagus .In my opinion, bordering exceptional. In addition we ordered Grilled Ribeye, Knowing that Marco Polo is not a steak house, preparation was acceptable, but not hot enough or juicy, to my liking. Christina (our server) was complimentary and always available, even thou the evening became very busy.....My specialty for dessert is Tiramisu ,which is made in house. That and a great cup of coffee competed the evening dinning at Marco Polo. Now off to theater...More

We have consistently had good meals here for at least 5 years. The short rib appetizer special tonight was EXCELLENT! Almost a meal in itself. Husbands veal was also terrific! Had to take home my entree.

My wife and I visited suburban Philadelphia to share in my Dad's 91st birthday. We wanted to try someplace new; asked some bridge partners for a recommendation, and Marco Polo was recommended. Boy, were we happy. We were greeted immediately upon entering, and seated right...away. (no reservations for parties 4 and less). The restaurant is broken up into seating areas, which is very nice; creates a more private kind of atmosphere. Our waiter was one of the best we have ever had - Andrew. Very knowledgeable regarding the items on the menu, and very efficient in caring for us. And he did a great job with my Mom and Dad. The menu is very extensive - lots to choose from. I had Penne Scampi - very good with a nice sauce and large and succulent shrimp. My wife had a fish and shrimp combo dish which she indicated was outstanding. The wine list is large, and very reasonable. We have definitely added Marco Polo Restaurant to our list of places to go when we visit the Philadelphia area.More

We moved to Elkins Park about 6 months ago, and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dining experience when we tried Marco Polo. Unsure what to expect, especially from a restaurant with such a large number of items on the menu, I was...floored by how fresh and tasty everything was. We have eaten there as a family about 6 or 7 times now, and every meal and every entrée has been fantastic. The kids love it, too. A great selection of food cooked to perfection. The restaurant gets surprisingly crowded on weeknights sometimes, and is a bit loud when it is crowded, but the service is great, the staff is friendly, and the flavors of the dishes are well worth it. The Osso Buco (not always available) is spectacular, as is the grilled octopus salad (also a special). Oysters are great. Seafood pasta is phenomenal. I can't say anything bad about this restaurant. It's a gem of a restaurant in a gem of a small suburban Philadelphia city. I highly recommend it to everyone I know that lives in the area.More

I was here last night. In our party were 4 adults and a one month old baby. They accommodated us with the young one away from the crowd. The staff were attentive, friendly, knowledgable and very efficient. The food is very very good, to start...complimentary olives and a delicious selection of breads. We had entrees including lamb, chicken, seafood pasta and veal parmesan. Most of these had a salad included. Extensive wine menu at a reasonable price. Creme Brule and Cannoli for dessert shared by all received many "yum, yum, yums." Would recommend for any occasion should you live or be in the area.More

Six of us went to Marco Polo recently for dinner. Menu was diverse and something to please everyone. We asked to share several dishes among two. The waitress delivered the shared portions in separate plates. She was an expert server with a very pleasant disposition....Wonderful experience in a relatively quiet restaurant with fine food. Good for small groups. Will return in the near futureMore

We went there with another couple for dinner. I ordered the lamb chops that were cooked to perfection. The others ordered the veal parmigiana . Very few restaurants serve veal that is tender as well as delicious. The server was attentive and excellent. The restaurant...also has a brunch and lunch menu that looked wonderful. We will definitely go back there again. The restaurant is located in a strip mall off of Old York Road. There are enough parking spots to handle all of the patrons.More
