First off, this is a review on their take away and not their dine-in. With roots dating back to the early 1980’s comes a highly rated Chinese restaurant by foodies & critiques alike. But are they able to maintain that level of standard in a...take-away box? Service: We placed the order via a third party app which was pretty straight forward. Packaging: Nothing much to rave about with ordinary take away boxes. Mango Prawn Roll (RM 11.80) Taste: Striking a perfect balance of sweet & savoury, the prawn rolls were coated in a crispy, light & crunchy pastry. Securing the bright yellow, egg yolk look alike, warm & slightly sweet mango filling within, giving the fresh crunchy prawns a gentle mango bath though was a little over powering, masking the flavour of the prawns. Price: Reasonable Stir Fried Radish Cake (RM 10.80) Taste: The radish cake were evenly sliced pieces & fried to a beautiful golden brown, slightly charred on the edges giving it a touch of crispy. Accompanied by a down pour of beansprouts & spring onions with a drizzle of turnips completing the meal. Price: Reasonable Lor Mai Kai (RM 9.80) Taste: The meat was slightly hard along the edges probably a result of aging in the take away box. The meat however was a saving grace as it was very tender & fragrant off-setting the downfalls of the glutinous rice. Price: Reasonable Bacon Roll (RM 8.80) Taste: If looks could be deceiving, it sure was here. Given the dish was swimming in Thai sweet chilli, we expected an overwhelmingly sweet dish. However, the meat was tender & juicy especially the streaky bacon giving a slightly smoky flavour which off set the sweetness of the entire dish. Quite a surprising but a pleasant surprise. Price: Reasonable Recommended? Dim sum is a delicate dish with the potential to go quite wrong not aging well in a takeaway box. However, Marco Polo has managed to sustain the quality of these dim sum despite the potential delivery horrors Our full review is on Instagram ( @monk3yseendo )More

After shying away from this restaurant for 10 years due to mix reviews, I finally brought my husband there. We were glad that our first experience has been enjoyable and satisfying. We ordered siew mai, char siew bao, combination of char siew & roast pork,...crunchy 5 (stirred fried mix vegetables of lotus roots, lily bulbs, celery, nuts & pumpkins), XO scallops and yang chow fried rice. The waiters & waitress attended to us on the day were great and attentive. Our tea was consistently been filled, dishes were served promptly and simultaneously. The roast pork skin was crispy and delicious as well as the char siew. They had a good fat & lean ratio that melted in our mouth. The char siew bao also had a good ratio of filling and dough. My husband always judge whether a Cantonese/Chinese restaurant is good and to his liking by both these dishes. XO scallops were fresh and delicious, even the snow peas that were tossed and served together with the scallops were fresh and crunchy. Yang chow fried rice were fluffy and each kernel of the rice was well separated. Total bill was RM235 and we definitely look forward to returning to try other dishes. We hope the restaurant would continue to maintain their consistency in providing great food and services. Well done and keep up the good efforts.More

This is a very traditional Chinese restaurant, so don't expect great decor (it's wooden and gloomy) or smiling, friendly service (it's also wooden and gloomy.) However, they've been doing this a long time, so it's pretty reliable in terms of food quality. Again, the chefs...do not take risks or push boundaries, but they render the old favourites quite well, especially dim sum. A reliable choice for lunch or dinner, but may not suit those looking for a more modern Chinese dining experience.More

It used to be famous for dim sum but I’m afraid it has gone down hill in quality and quantity. Service was also extremely poor as the waiters could not understand basic commands. Prawn Chong fun is poor-One prawn per sleave of. Half the dish...only had the chong fun noodle with no filling! Charging 5 ringgit for chili oil is a rip off as it’s a standard to give it as an accompaniment. Mango prawn good -Good batter and sizeable portions but too oily Salad prawn dumpling again oily as fired with thick batter and bland and was chewy. Been sheet roll in abalone was below average- didn’t taste of much/ extremely bland. Har Gau again average, the Fried Lou Pak Gou was ok, small portion. Aubergine with fish ball was ok. Mango pudding was too firm and didn’t taste adequately of mango The mango sago again had too much fluid and a huge lump of ice cream Service was terrible as the waiters could not understand basic English commands. Also one har gau dish arrived after our deserts arrived as it took too long! Oily, small Portions and below average tasting food with poor service. Won’t be returning!More

My son and I visited Marco Polo yesterday (Friday). It was our first visit and we totally enjoyed the food served. It was clean-tasting Chinese cuisine at its best. The restaurant's signature crabmeat and chicken noodle dish was our favourite. Lightly flavoured with a delicate...sauce, it was delicious. We would have no trouble ordering it again! We had scallop pancakes as an appetiser and totally enjoyed the four pancakes served with a special dressing. My son enjoyed the hot and sour soup while I found the tofu and loofah squash dish very tasty; the gravy was really nice. All in all, a most rewarding dining experience!More

Was at Marco Polo to celebrate my mil's birthday. We booked 3 tables and were given a big room with a small stage. Every set came with a free bottle of red wine. Food and service were superb, value for money. Is indeed a good...place to dine, especially to entertain guests and have functions.More

We came in and want to order food, but no menu was given. Have to call the waitress, then only menu is provided. But we got six person of us, the menu only given one then again have to call again. Can't order thru waitress,...have to wait for captain. When the captain pass by we call right in front of his face. He just ignore and walk away. Then we have to call again waitress. Then the waitress again have to inform the captain. Finally he came with dead father face. It already took more than 30mins just to call a captain to come for food ordering. Imagine that how are we going to eat as we only have 1 hour lunch break and we still have to wait for them to cook and serve. Some more with his dead father's face, the happiness of our gathering already gone!!! We want to tell the captain "If you are not happy with your job, then don't do. For the management of Marco Polo "Please always ensure your staff is professional enough to serve customer as it is your responsibility in this food and servicing industry!!!"More

On Sunday 20 March 2016 at noon I went with may family for a lunch at Marco Polo. We chose menu á la carte. It was a good food. However, it was a terrible experience that when we were finishing lunch, a rat crossed under...our table, over my daughter's feet. So I requested the bill and before we left I could see again the middle sized brown rat. Disgusting. I informed the waiters about this. They did not seem surprised and there was only one young gentleman, dressed with formal attire, that expressed his apologies. For the rest of the crew it was like "yeah, yeah..so whats the problem, buddy?") Of course we will never be back there again, and I take time to let everybody know about this.More

Worth making an effort to come here for a dim sum feast. (They also have a Chinese Buffett) the selection is vast and plentyful. Very tasty and reasonably priced.

This is one of the more popular dim sum restaurants around KL. We had heard about this for quite some time but never got around to trying it... were very glad we tried the dim sum. To get tables it is helpful to arrive early....Located in Lim Foo Yong building, the restaurant has undergone recent renovations and to us did not look 'too gloomy' unlike previous reviews. The service was quite good, attentive and fun in a casual, Cantonese kind of way. The dim sum and the buns were well made and quite traditional in a Kuala Lumpur way. We enjoyed the visit, the food was tasty and I would definitely bring my friends and family again.More

You’re greeted by the dank and smell of cockroaches as you get seated in the dining hall, an experience familiar to large Chinese restaurants of yore. Get past it and the quality of dim sum is actually alright. Don’t mind returning.

The Dim Sum buffet here is simply wonderful. For a very reasonable price (just around RM50-60 per person if I'm not mistaken), you get a wide range of delicacies, with things from the usual Dim Sum menu (Har Kou, Siew Mai, Char Siew Bao, Chinese...pastries, porridge etc.), as well as other Chinese/Malaysian dishes and desserts, ranging from fried noodles to tau fu fa and ice kacang. And like most buffets, salads, fruits, tea and coffee are also served. The taste and quality of the food are very good too. Just a few things to note: the buffets are only on Sundays at fixed times (first session: 9am-12:30pm, second session: 1pm-3:30pm). And the restaurant can get very packed, so be sure to make phone reservations a few days before dining here to avoid disappointment.More

One of the older dim sum restaurants in KL, this place is clearly popular with locals and was mobbed when we visited. Due to renovations at the front porch, it was a trek to get to their parking lot. At 12 noon, they had sold...out of the hot favourites like egg tarts and roasted 'char sue bao'. However, service was efficient and we had a reasonable lunch of average dim sum. Beware those with a nut allergy - even innocent dishes like 'char sue' (barbecued pork) are marinaded in peanut oil!More

Yes the private rooms and the huge main dining room are air conditioned . You might want to take a light cardigan or wear a thick long sleeved shirt as it can be quite cold. Hope that helps answer your question.
