Went for the experience , realised this comes with a hefty price tag, didn’t appreciate beforehand a charge of 10 euros just to sit down whilst the musicians were playing so be aware of that. Obviously the waiters are clever bringing trays out and inside...the setting is beautiful but the coffees were certainly nothing special and the scones were truly awful, dry and over cooked. Total cost 71 euros for 2 coffees a tea and 2 scones.More

We went to Cafe Florian because it's a historic place on the Saint Marc's square. We knew it was going to be expensive. Because a soft drink was 12€ we thought we would treat ourselves to dessert instead. We chose ice-cream coupe's with fresh fruit...and one with strawberries (18€ each) . The quality of the coupes was not great, some of the fruit was not fresh enough anymore and had to be picked out. You could get far better ice cream coupes at simple tea-rooms. On top of the very expensive dessert, which was mediocre, they charged an extra 5€ per person because there was live music playing on the outside terrace. We were sitting inside and the music didn't play half of the time we were there (break for the musicians). When I expressed my disbelief to the waiter, he couldn't care less. So knowing what I know now, I would not visit again. They charge a huge amount but do not really care about hospitality or quality, only about making money. The only bright side is the decor of the place is really nice & historic.More

The hot chocolate was cold and he cake tasted like it had just left the freezer and was inadequately heated. The price was proportional to venue and setting, but attention to the desert could have been much better quality. Disappointing. Very dissapointing! Rather stand nearby...and you can still listen to the orchestra play and absorb the atmosphere of San Marco.More

16 night tour of Italy's best bits with two teens. This was 'my' must do especially after watching Fred Sirieixs programme. I was super excited and was well aware of what it would cost for the four of us for coffee and cake(£110!). But it...was a once in s lifetime thing. It was 36 degrees so decided to sit inside as it was cool. My heart sank as soon as we entered. Staff were sharp and ignorant! The main waiter(you'll know him if you've watched the programme) asked us, as we stood waiting for someone to show us to a table, 'can I help?' with an air of superiority. We said that we'd like s table please and his reply was 'well go and sit down'. I stupidly expected the smiles and courtesy that Fred got but alas was all for the cameras. Our order arrived and no it was not on the tray in the correct order as shown on the programme! The cakes were lovely but the coffees were tiny. 14 yr old opted for a small bottle of coke for 12euros(I thought at least a glass and a slice of lemon) and the 15 yr old was not impressed with the size of her Iced coffee for 14euros! Photo says it all! Needless to say we did not leave a tip!More

The place is simply stunning. The furniture, the decor, the piano music, the portraits, the gilded mirrors and retro original lights...everything tells a tale of a golden past of 300 years. I thoroughly enjoyed my break at Caffè Florian. The staff was very kind and...attentive. It was a hot day So I took their frozen coffee with vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of whipped cream. It came very nicely presented on a vintage silver tray. A gentleman was playing the piano and I thought it was a nice touch. It was a very nice experience that was worth the price (nothing more that you’d pay in a similar place in London New York or Shanghai...but this place has a long history that makes it unique).More

I can't believe it's even legal to charge 10 euros for "music supplement" without even telling customers about it. I asked the waiter about the supplement, which was on top of the exorbitant price for an ice cream and a glass of water, and he...showed notice on the bottom of the menu (which we hadn't even looked at) in tiny writing. I told the waiter I thought he should draw the customers' attention to this at which point he became extremely unpleasant. How greedy these people are! And what a horrible experience. Avoid at all costs.More

It is a privilege to sit on st mark square, enjoy live music and get table service. Sure, you must be willing to pay extra for this (eg. spritz = 14 EUR instead of 3). However, you get some snacks with the order (fresh olives...and crisps) as well as water. Just consider the difference in price an „entry fee“.More

As life-long visitors to Venice, this was the first time we decided to patronise this icon of cafes which we knew would be over-priced but we were prepared to pay for the experience. In this time of Covid restrictions, it is tragic for the whole...hospitality sector that the percentage of visitors has now dropped to 5%. Unfortunately, the waiters at Florian seem to bear a personal grudge for the lack of clientele. Unlike the rest of Venice where restaurant service is now exceptional (due to fewer tourists), at Florian, despite there being many immaculately white-coated waiters trawling around, the service was quite slow and a little sultry. Snobbish even. The food was unexceptional which is surprising considering the cost. Most customers would be prepared to pay high prices for excellent quality. One would have hoped that Covid might have shaken the dust off this overrated establishment but alas, it feels it is entitled to its former popularity and now borders on the surly.More

Let's be honest here, many reviewers complain about the price and yes it is super expensive but this was expected. The menu clearly displays this and the reviews here mention it. This is Venice one of the most expensive cities in the world and you...are paying to dine or have drinks at an old elegant cafe with history. If you don't want to pay, don't go. I see it as a treat, one off and not something you do everyday. It was nearly EUROS 30.00 for a small black americano and the pistachio and raspberries tart. I knew this before I went in and yes it was a lot but it was once in a lifetime for me. Service was attentive but could be way more friendlier. Sit inside. Pretty. Limited but sufficient menu. Suggest a hot drink and a sweet treat rather than savoury as this appeared to be what most people were doing. The americano was very good. The tart was 'pretty' but looks didn't live up to taste! Dry and bland but edible. Waiters left you to relax and despite them being busy, none of the guests were rushed. Suggest going earlier in the day as it gets more busier later. Presentation is lovely. Not sure how they bring out the items so quickly! I watched as other people ordered too and everyone was served super quick. Clean. For other cafes in the square, I would say sit outside to soak up the atmosphere but for this one definitely sit inside as it's all about the history. If you order the hot chocolate (a child ordered it who was sitting near me), whilst it looked so good, it also appeared to be very rich and looked like pure chocolate. Be warned, quite heavy and not like it is made in other countries. The bottom line, it is very expensive. It was a tick on my bucket list. I am glad I went. Would I go again? No.More

This is such a historic place! Loved the atmosphere, the service, the Aperol and the hot cholocate. They didn't serve Bellini in Feb as the peach wasn't seasonal but they brought us accompaniments for our drinks as well. It wasn't difficult to get a table...but be prepared that you will need to spend here.More

This upmarket cafe lives up to its' reputation with attentive waiters, lovely food and live music. It's very pricey but you're in one of the nicest locations in the world relaxing, enjoying fine food and listening to live music. Not many better places to sit...and enjoy life for an hour or so. Not even the pigeons spoil your time there, the waiters are expert shots with water pistols!More

An iconic cafe, the oldest in the world (established in 1720), Cafe Florian definitely lives up to her reputation! The decor is ornate and beautifully maintained. It’s definitely worth a visit for lunch, high tea or simply a piece of cake and coffee. It’s pricey...but you can expect impeccable service, beautiful china and cutlery and delicious food. We ordered the club sandwich and chocolate tart and both were sumptuous!More
