We booked for a Saturday evening as we were visiting Bournemouth for the weekend and fancied Italian for one evening and I had asked for a table by the window and that's exactly where we were seated, with friendly and attentive staff assisting us throughout...the meal. The menu is extensive and choosing was an issue, (a good one), but orders were swiftly taken. There was a minor issue with my wife's starter, as she had asked a question about a particular dish and when it arrived it seems that our server wasn't quite correct, but this was quickly remedied and when the entrees arrived, we weren't disappointed, with piping hot tasty food and extremely large portion sizes. Overall it was a very, very, pleasant meal, with superb service, steaming hot food, (often an issue in some restaurants), friendly waitresses and a genuine Italian ambience surrounding us. Would we return? Yes, next time we're visiting, definitely, which to me, is always the most important question.More
We enjoyed our experience eating at this restaurant . The service was prompt and friendly and there was an extensive choice on the menu. The portions were very generous and although we would have loved a dessert we were just too full to consider one....We would definitely return.More
My Daughter ,grandon and I had a proper Italian meal in Boscombe celebrating Mothers day. What a wonderful suprise to be find such a genuine restaurant on the doorstep. The dining room was just as you might expect a family run business to look a...little oldfashioned but you could have been in Italy, it was even sunny. We had Bruschetta, capaccio, pasta, fillet steak and gorgonzola,Seabass and real creme brûlée all very generous portions all cooked to order. The bill came to £100 with tips and drinks which I think was very good value compared to chain restaurants. We’ll go again as there are so many things on the menu that you just don’t see any more in England.More
We were lucky enough to be squeezed into this restaurant last night after every other restaurant in Bournemouth was fully booked. I'm so pleased they were because we had one of the nicest Italian meals we've ever had. My Mother is Italian and I can...tell you that if you're looking for traditional Italian cuisine then this is the place for you. We took our two children who enjoyed mussels (huge bowl) and lasagne with yummy garlic bread that I thought was home made. It's absolutely worth the taxi ride from the centre of Bournemouth (it's located in Boscombe) and is exceptional value with lovely staff. Already looking forward to taking our friends next time.More
We took a party of 13 to the restaurant before an England game at the vitality - including x6 excited 7 and 8 year olds. The staff were great with the children and made us all feel very welcome. It’s no frills, hearty Italian food...- the pasta and pizza dishes we ordered were fantastic and really good value when considering the quality and portion sizes. I’d highly recommend and if we’re ever back to Bournemouth for an evening game we’ll be visiting againMore
We don’t get here as often as we like, but every time we have been it has been awesome. We regularly recommend others to try it and not one has said it was less than excellent. A real gem of a restaurant with very generous...portions - certainly one to have on your list if you’re only in Bournemouth for a quick visit, you will not be disappointed.More
We visited this Boscombe restaurant based on good reviews. We were not disappointed. We were staying nearby and made our way there on foot. It’s always a worry when you use a wheel chair and you visit an unfamiliar place. It must be said that...the entrance to the restaurant is tricky if you use a wheelchair and if you are unaccompanied you would need help to negotiate the step and open the door and make the turn to get inside. (I doubt that there is an accessible loo as it is an old building). That said, the service, the welcome we received and the meal we were served were superb. Luckily we decided to skip starters and chose lasagne with a shared salad. The portion size was really generous and we both struggled to finish as we were so full. The food had so much flavour, the best lasagne we’ve had for years. The waitress was friendly and the traditional style of the restaurant felt cosy and relaxing. We loved the complimentary classic bread sticks on the table and the offer of limoncello to close the meal. If you’re staying in Boscombe and you love Italian food this is the place to go.More
After reading the reviews on trip advisor we decided to visit the Marco Polo to celebrate a birthday. It is quite near Pokesdown station and from outside looks like any other out of town restaurant. We had a friendly welcome and our table looked very...welcoming with breadsticks and olives to nibble on as we studied the menu. A jug of iced water was brought as we ordered drinks. The four of us ordered different starters and all were well presented and delicious. For mains 3 of us had tagliatelle with prawns and salmon. The portions were generous and the prawns were large. The other choice was risotto del pescatore which was a veritable seafood feast. We could not resist ordering the deserts and finished the meal with a complimentary limoncello. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys authentic freshly prepared Italian food served by friendly staff in comfortable surroundings.More
We stayed near Bournemouth between Christmas and New Year and had been recommended this restaurant. It did not disappoint. When we arrived there were several large family tables and a few couples dining. The service was excellent throughout and very friendly. There were unexpected touches,...such as bread sticks on the table and olives given to us. We had starters and mains, the food was home cooked and excellent. The bill was less than we'd have paid for frozen food from a chain restaurant. We also received complimentary lemoncello and some sweets on our way out. Would love to visit again.More
We went here especially whilst staying near the BIC as had been before. We loved it again. A level of service and friendliness that has become rare. The food is also fantastic! Lovely touches like the complimentary limoncello make it even better
We stopped by Marco Polo as most places were booked up due to the eat out scheme. As they weren’t taking part, we were able to get a table but only just! I had spaghetti Vongole which was genuinely superb, loads of plump fresh clams...with a delicious rich sauce. My friend had the salmon & prawn tagliatelle which was also delicious. Staff were brilliant and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. We left full & happy. The following day we were going to have Thai but couldn’t stop thinking about Marco Polo - so we went back. This time I had chicken with asparagus & dolcelatte & my friend had pizza. Again, it was superb. I only wish we didn’t live 80 miles away! Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in Bournemouth....More
Far and away the best Italian food in the area. Olives and bread sticks always offered, starters tasty and appetising. Pasta dishes are a treat for the taste buds,- particularwly the creamy and meaty carbonara. Service is friendly and efficient. Location is ideal for those...who like to have a drink and therefore use public transport,- bus stops either way are within a few yards of Marco PoloMore
Menu is horrendous. Has title and the briefest description you could possibly muster for each dish - most importantly not disclosing whether bones would be present in a dish or not. This is a common factor that decides whether or not to order a dish,...and I was extremely disappointed to find an abundance of bones in my starter. I was absolutely disgusted - this is a fact that should absolutely be disclosed on the menu. I will not go near a dish with bones with and feel manipulated and violated by my experience- I will NEVER be coming back again.More
Now doing Take Aways based on a selection of the main menu. The quality, flavour and taste are exceptionally good and all are delightful. I tried the Pizza (Pepperoni) and devoured the lot! Good flavours and a great tomato base ensures richness and satisfaction with...every bite!More
