The Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok garners praise for its elegant charm and intimate atmosphere, with guests often highlighting its prime riverfront location perfect for exploring and the luxurious amenities, including a spa and diverse dining options. While travelers consistently commend the hotel's cleanliness and the attentive, personalized service provided by staff, some feel that it lacks value for money, noting overpriced services. The comfortable and elegantly designed rooms are a hit, though a few guests mention issues with noise and size.

I have stayed here many times and had my birthday party here with 15 guests.

When you thought it could not get better you are wrong and again this stay is better than the last when you thought it was awesome.

One night with 36 hour staycation comes with a bottle of champagne and food n spa credits. Lobby and suites and rooms and areas by the river are beautifully renovated, food as delicious as always and inexperience for what it is. Our suite on the garden wing 455 is so tastefully done and separate dining, living, kitchen, powder room, bathroom and walk-in closet are perfectly arranged.

Services from checking in, breakfast, lunch, room service, turn down, spa, gym, pools, boat, lobby are perfect.

The price is now so inexpensive given the covit 19 staycation package - it’s like flying first class at the price of a business class and it is indeed a very good first class here.

Downside? It’s not a place to be on a diet heheheh

Stayed two nights recently in a recently renovated Mandarin Suite at this iconic Bangkok hotel, near the Chao Praya river. Suite was large (a single open space with a king bed, dining area, and living room / work area), but designed to feel cozy. Gorgeous river-front views, and a private balcony adjacent to the dining area add to its romantic ambiance. Bathroom was large, though the shower and toilet were oddly combined in a tight, inconvenient space. Bathroom amenities were acceptable, though guests should be careful with the metal-capped bathing products (I cut myself badly attempting to open the shampoo in the shower). Service was gracious and welcoming from all staff. Cuisine and views were excellent from La Normandie (dinner) and the Verandah (breakfast). Location is ideal for a quick ferry ride across the river to ICONSIAM (departing & returning on the hour). Will definitely consider for future central Bangkok river area stays!

I go to Bangkok to staying this hotel.
I stayed several times in the hotel, it always provides the highest quality of the hotel stay.
All department of the hotel moves harmonious, making all procedures flow softly.
The rooms of new river wing have nice style in deco and super comportable bedding. And technologies like wireless charging system and bose sound system made stay more comportable.
Great dining opitions and world class bar inside in the hotel was very good.
Staffs had great hospitality from doorman to private room bulter.
Recommended for all kind of trips.

This hotel is known for their legendary service but it was one of the oldest hotel in the city. It’s the reason that I never wanted to stay here. Now the hotel was renovated and it’s in the best condition and with the renowned service. It’s the only hotel that you want to stay in Bangkok.
We stayed during weekdays and got upgraded to a suite with a butler. For hygiene reason the room was sealed after it was throughly cleaned and no one allowed in the room except for the checked-in guests. The fruits basket was changed daily and the room got back to the checked-in stage after every maid service, even on the last day of the stay. It was incredible.
The food was great and their high tea is the best but if you want some changes, the Icon Siam is just a short boat ride from the hotel and free of charge. The spa was top notch, only downside is you have to get up stairs to the spa and more stairs to the treatment rooms. Not quite senior friendly but you can tell them your conditions in advance and they’ll try their best to accommodate you.
There’s something about this hotel that makes you want to make a reservation again, even before you check out, finish you meal or finish your treatment.

This was a fantastic weekend spent celebrating my daughter's 10th birthday. The suite was decorated with balloons and banners when we arrived. Everyone at the hotel knew our names. The pool service was exceptional, with towels refreshened, water kept ice cold, and complimentary sorbet being given out throughout the afternoon. The butler service was top notch. Thank you Peter. We went to the spa and the who staff surprised us when we went into our treatment room, singing Happy Birthday with candles lit for my daughter's birthday. The second night we decided to have dinner in our room and they accommodated us with the Ciao menu. We could not be more satisfied and cannot wait until our next visit.

If I could award 6 stars this hotel surely deserves it.

Despite being quite a large hotel it is still very personable.
If you are a follower of the tv programme “Cheers”, you will recall the phrase “where everybody knows your name”. Well at the Mandarin Oriental they do, from the restaurant staff, room attendants, receptionists to the pool boys, the staff are not just personable but polite, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. Their aim is perfection.
The rooms in the main part of the hotel are currently undergoing refurbishment , and whilst tastefully updating them they have still managed to maintain a balance with the traditions that make this hotel one of the finest in the world.
Everything about this hotel oozes class, from the stringed quartet orchestra playing in the early evening in the lobby, the fineries of afternoon tea in the authors lounge, the serving of ice cream around the pool in the afternoon along with the constant refreshing of iced water to stop you dehydrating, the comforts of the cigar room but most of all it is the seamless attention to detail that differentiate this hotel.
The buffets, whether breakfast or dinner are varied to cater for all nationalities and tastes, invitingly presented and fresh. The new chef at the Thai restaurant, to get to you have a fun ride on the hotel boat to the other side of the river, has recently taken on a new young chef who brings with her a new slant on Thai food that is amazing. I also recommend a negroni or two in the bamboo bar, (one is never enough!).
The Gym has the latest equipment and if the staff could exercise for you - I’m sure they would! There are daily Yoga and Muay Thai classes which run all day, so no excuses.
The return rate here i am led to believe is exceptionally high, if you have never been and can afford it then the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Bangkok is an absolute must for your bucket list!

This hotel combines the long and storied history of the original Oriental with everything a modern traveller needs. This is unashamedly a high end hotel but style and class is not delivered at the expense of intimacy and warmth. The MO staff are wonderful. It isn't easy to get around Bangkok and there is no one location that ticks all boxes but being on the river is reasonably convenient and does provide a great atmosphere in the evening.

During the time of global difficulties, my husband and I decided to celebrate our birthdays (his on 16th and mine on 18th) at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok with a very good deal called “Experience the Legend” for one night (in at 8am, out at 8 pm). They provided us with warm greeting and a super yummy opera birthday cake. Really really felt being take care of everything which felt sooooo relaxing.

Before starting an extensive trip to Southeast Asia my wife and I wanted to spend a few days in Bangkok. We opted to stay at the Mandarin Oriental and while pricey, it exceeded our expectations in every possible manner.
First and foremost, the staff are unbelievable and the staff to customer ratio is the highest of any place we've ever stayed. You are literally treated like royalty.

The location on the Chao Phraya River is excellent with frequent water shuttles to nearby Icon Siam, one of the best and most unusual malls in Asia. Every room has a balcony and it is delightful to sit on it at night or day and watch the traffic on the river.

The rooms are not overly large, but the bathroom is with double sink, deep bathtub and separate shower. There is also the world's smartest toilet with heated seats and multiple functions that you need to experience to find out what a pleasure it can be to sit on it.

Toiletries, linens, pillows are all world class. The attention to detail each day by the staff as they rearrange everything into perfect order is something to see. Each day you get a new selection of different fruits plus the hotel's famous macarons.

There are many restaurants of which we tried just a few. The pizza at the Terrazo is great and so was is anything we had at the Verandah. The real highlight is the breakfast buffet. Catering to guests from North America, Europe and many Asian countries, the buffet has something for everyone. The pastries are outstanding. Only negative was the coffee which was too strong by North American standards, but diluted with warm milk was much better.

The Mandarin is a sophisticated hotel with sophisticated clientele so at first it might seem intimidating, but the staff make sure that every guest is treated specially whether you are a movie star (we saw two), an oil sheik or just a couple who want to experience life at the top for a few days.

I often have friends ask how we can justify spending what it costs to stay at a place like the Mandarin and I can only reply - try it for yourself and you'll find out.

I don't know the answer but I would be surprised if the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok would not try to accommodate your request for the type of mattress you would like. I suggest you email the hotel. All the best.
