Senior: At Carnegie Vanguard High School, the best part of my experience has been the strong relationship between students and teachers. This supportive environment fosters collaboration, communication, and a sense of community, which greatly enhances the learning experience. However, the worst part has been the experience with the TPSP program, where the teacher often failed to effectively teach and resorted to yelling at students, creating a negative and stressful atmosphere. Senior: My experience at Challenge Early College High School was nothing like I would have expected going to high school. It is a very small school with very few kids and it was something I had to adapt to because all the other schools I went were big schools, but challenge was small. Over time I kind of liked how small it was and the benefits of this school. I had more freedom now that I am a senior. My best experience was in sophomore year were we all was getting to know each other because we only saw each other online and not in person and you get shocked to see new faces and match them with their names. Worst part was junior year because it was hectic, having many college classes on my hand and also dealing with high school side, but I got through it. I would like if this school had more sports, but I know it may not be possible because their is no space for fields in our school because we are connected to HCC. Junior: The best part of this school is the extreme preparation for college that is offered to students. Teachers put in effort to see all of their students get accepted into colleges with scholarships. Sophomore: My overall experience, so far into my Sophomore year, is kind of good. The classes are really good for the most part; it's very easy to learn in this school, and the teachers are very easy to ask questions to. The afterschool clubs and afterschool activities are very limited, although. There are four "major" clubs in the school, and one of them, the NHS club, is only for seniors. The food is also lackluster. Besides the school served food and some vending machines; there isn't much to eat except a coffee shop across the road, but it's not that good and pretty overpriced. The sports is sufficient, but also quite limited. There's a basketball, soccer, volleyball, and cheer team, so it's decent sport wise, but doesn't contain baseball, football, or any other miscellaneous sports. Alum: My experience at Clear View High School(CVHS) wasn’t what I expected. At first I didn’t want to go to clear view because I already loved the school I was at. Then Covid happened so, at that point I was ok with attending at CVHS. I had entered the cosmetology program there as well, where I was able to create and learn new styles. My time at CVHS was short but memorable the staff and students always had a different vibe. Every time I stepped foot into CVHS there was this presence that welcomed you just as much as the staff did. I experienced new challenges which each passing day and gained new responsibilities. They even helped me with my future something I will never forget and will forever be grateful for. Everyone who attended or attends CVHS always come out a new changed person just as I. Senior: I entered this school during quarantine so it was much different than what I expected. However the staff was great and I made plenty of good friend that I enjoy being around. The campus is small but spacious and I don't mind the small graduating class and even find it more connecting having less people. However recently things have been starting to become more difficult with the new super intendant. The rules are becoming more and more strict without consideration of teachers and students's opinions. I understand the want to make school educational but working bell to bell for almost 4 hours is something unobtainable. Senior: Sharpstown International School is a good school, but not the best. For my experience some teachers are nice and wants us to learn and some other few teachers didn't teach us at all, this school is improving by taking out those teachers. The food here would still be trash. Junior: I've been going there since 6th grade and while things have been frustrating at times its been an overall great time. The school food isn't the best by any stretch of the imagination but you can door dash food to eat which is nice. Extracurricular activities are a bit limited outside of the usual suspects like sports to be best of my knowledge, the only other clubs are robotics and debate which are great in their own right but it definitely feels limiting. Overall however I find the teachers and administration open and helpful on things both in and out of school. Junior: At Jones, it is very diverse and you see many different types of kids everywhere. The only bad thing I can think about Jones is that there are not many sports to do at the school. This school only supports volleyball, soccer, basketball, and cheerleaders. A good thing about the school is they have a lot of opportunities for you to figure out what you want to do in the future. They have a STEM program and opportunities dealing with this. They also have a health science department where the kids have a chance to discover what they want to do in health science. Jones provides many chances for you to visit different colleges and meet different people to help you with your future. They provide ways for you to sign up for colleges, trade schools, and scholarships. Senior: This school is great it is a historical school and it's small, you see familiar faces everywhere you go like a mini home. I enjoyed Carver it felt warm, very easy to feel included, and not so overwhelming. Middle School Student: It’s not a school for everyone. There are a lot of driven, intelligent students who create a competitive environment. Definitely a place for someone who places a premium on academic. Students are overall very nice and supportive of each other. Many lifelong friendships are made. It will prepare you for high school and beyond. In fact, the majority of the valedictorians from Bellaire High School graduated from THR the past two years.
